After Hidilyn Diaz won the Philippines’ first Olympic Gold medal, a slew of organizations, individuals, and companies pledged a slew of prizes to her. Today, she received one of them: a P14-million, fully-furnished unit at the 47-storey One Eastwood Avenue.

The unit was promised the two-bedroom condo by property giant Megaworld and tycoon Dr. Andrew L. Tan, and they delivered on their word just a couple of weeks after Diaz’s momentous feat.

Megaworld chief strategy officer Kevin L. Tan was personally on-hand today to turn over the unit to the Olympic champion.

Being a township, One Eastwood Avenue is walking distance from all needed amenities

“All that Hidilyn and her family need to do is just bring their clothes and other personal effects, and they are good to stay in the unit,” Tan, the son of the real estate mogul, says.

Lifting our country

“We are excited to welcome her and her family and loved ones to Eastwood City, particularly in this newest residential condominium tower in our first-ever township,” Tan continues.

As the unit was turned over, Diaz also received a commissioned charcoal painting by John Ken Gomez, a fine arts student. The piece depicted the athlete’s triumph along with a message from Megaworld: “Thank you for lifting our country up high.”

“The story of Hidilyn’s victory is a great source of inspiration for Filipinos,” the 21-year-old artist explains. “I hope every time she looks at that artwork, she will be reminded that she is a symbol of hope and pride for all of us.”

The painting will be prominently displayed in the unit, which was specially curated by real estate company’s in-house interior design team, and comes with furniture, fixtures, and appliances.

Township amenities

One Eastwood Avenue is a township, with commercial spaces, retail outlets, dining establishments as well as banks and a church within walking distance.

“It will be a very convenient lifestyle for Hidilyn and her family,” adds Tan. “In fact, there are other celebrities and renowned personalities who have also chosen Eastwood City as their home for many years now because of this.”

Amenities here include landscaped gardens, a lap pool, a sunbathing lounge, and a badminton court. Diaz can make full use of the fitness center and the yoga (she’s a practitioner) and pilates room.

“She has brought so much pride to our country and she deserves all these rewards for her hardwork in raising our flag so high in the Tokyo Olympics,” Tan says.

Diaz has also received some of the prizes that were pledged to her, including the P3 million incentive from Rep. Mikee Romero and was deemed as Philippine Airlines’ first forever flyer.
