This is an exciting collaboration between the sons of two legends from the music industry.
James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon, the sons of two Beatles front men, have released a new song together called “Primrose Hill.”
“Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @sean_ono_lennon,” McCartney wrote on Instagram.
“With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”

With a little help from friends
While the two musicians wrote the song together, only McCartney performs the track. In the past, he has contributed to solo albums by his parents, Paul and Linda McCartney. He then later released two studio albums and two EPs of his own.
McCartney made his official solo debut in 2010 with the EP Available Light. David Kahne and Paul McCartney produced the album. They recorded the music between Sussex, London, and New York, including Abbey Road Studios.
Meanwhile, Lennon has released two albums of his own. Aside from his solo music, he has also produced albums for other artists and has been a member of several bands such as Cibo Matto and Plastic Ono Band.
He made his solo debut with the album Into the Sun in 1998. Director Spike Jonze worked on the music video for the album’s single “Home.”
In February this year, Lennon released a new album titled Asterisms. “The whole world was being upheaved with Covid and the lockdowns,” he told Rolling Stone, while describing his mindset during the production of the record.
“So during that time, I was thinking very much about my whole life, you know, looking at my mother being older and the whole world being turned upside down. So I was feeling very pensive.”
The other Beatles’ sons, Dhani Harrison and Zak Starkey, are also musicians. In a 2012 interview with BBC, McCartney said he would be happy to collaborate with the other next generation Beatles.
