Working Overtime: ‘On The Job’ Is Nominated For An Emmy And Is The Official Philippine Entry To The Oscars - Arts & Culture

Erik Matti’s On The Job is carrying the Philippines all the way to the Emmys and Oscars.

The Philippines selected On The Job: The Missing 8 as its official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2023 Academy Awards. It is the sequel to Matti’s 2013 film On The Job.

HBO Asia Original, available for streaming on HBO Go, premiered at the 2021 Venice International Film Festival. There, it competed for the Golden Lion and won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for John Arcilla.

“At a time where the Philippines is in dire need of small victories, it is enough that we have this film to hope for and rally behind as Filipinos in the coming 95th Oscar awards,” Matti posted.

Meanwhile, On The Job: The Series—adapted from the two films—received a nomination for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series at the International Emmys.
