PAMANA—Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc. and ArteFino’s exciting fundraiser—brought the best of Philippine tradition and artistic talent to the limelight with 16 of the country’s greatest designers.
As the country honored its cultural treasures throughout the month of May in celebration of the Filipino Heritage Festival, the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc.(FHFI) and ArteFino held their highly-anticipated fashion and cultural show, PAMANA: Woven Legacies in Fashion & Dance at the Manila Polo Club. The event marked 20 years of FHFI holding its annual, month-long festival. It also raised funds for ArteFino’s “HeArteFino” program, which aims to support, nurture, and foster artist-entrepreneurs and partner artisan communities.
Not a typical fashion show, PAMANA showcased artistic talent beyond fashion, including a concept script penned by the late Palanca award-winning playwright and stage director, Floy Quintos. An apt collaboration, as Quintos had been preserving, collecting, and documenting important Filipino garments and fabrics from all corners of the archipelago since 2002. Music and dance were also integral parts of the show, with choreography and creative direction by CCP Para sa Sinig Awardee for Dance, Gener Caringal.

Philippine Craftsmanship
ArteFino selected 16 of the country’s most talented designers and fashion houses from its roster to join the show. They each brought attention to the beauty of local textiles through stunning garments that were emblematic of their signature styles, and representative of the woven legacies of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region.
The show also highlighted accessories by Aishe, Arnel Papa, Earl Gariando, Kathy & Kathy Bespoke as well as Lakat. Meanwhile, dance performances by University of the East Silanganan Dance Troupe and The Danspace Ballet School ushered in key fashion categories that define Filipino style. These include: Pahingahan (tropical loungewear), Kaswal and Kasuotan (casuals with Filipino flair), and Postura (cocktails and semi formal).

Many of the country’s tastemakers, government leaders, and society figures were also present to support the event and its fundraising efforts.
Though the show is over, it’s only a taste of the thrilling things to come. “Apart from this being a fundraising effort in support of HeArteFino, PAMANA will also be a prelude for what’s to come in August when we unveil our yearly festival,” shared the ArteFino’s founders in a press statement.
