“I think being in our home is always a different experience for many people. Our home is like a little museum invaded by toddlers, where even everyday things feel like little works of art,” says Rissa Mananquil Trillo. Today’s party was a joint celebrant for her family’s birthday celebrants: herself and her daughter, Audra.
Rissa enjoys entertaining, from birthday dinners to playdates and get-togethers. “The Trillos are a big close-knit clan. Ever since Paolo and I got married, get-togethers have been the norm during weekends and different families take turns hosting,” she says.
Her favorite part of the process is preparing the menu. “My husband Paolo and my son Enzo love to cook, and I’m always excited to share their new dishes with guests,” she says.

When creating her tablescapes, Rissa’s passion for beauty influences her style. “I like to get creative with visual centerpieces. I move around art pieces and sculptures in our home to use as table centerpieces—so guests feast on art,” she says. “I adore fresh blooms but I want to make more sustainable choices. Thus, instead of cut flowers, our dining and living area is filled with potted plants, while air plants pepper the tablescape.”
Although Rissa and Paolo are careful with their beautifully decorated home, she lets her kids and their cousins play. “It’s always extra special and memorable when all the kids surprise us with a performance, whether it’s a song or dance number, or sometimes even a mini-fashion show,” she says. “It’s the place where giggles echo night and day.”
