Founded in 1979 by Jacques Branellec and Manuel Cojuangco, the international luxury brand was born out of a commitment to the most lustrous cultured South Sea pearls. Today, it continues to represent a world of rarity and enduring elegance.

”The South Sea pearl has long been revered not only for its natural beauty but also for its exquisite rarity— a desirable luxury that only Mother Nature can offer. It possesses an appeal that is associated with timeless elegance and refinement,” shares Jewelmer CEO Jacques Christophe Branellec in an interview with Lifestyle Asia. “The journey of the pearl is also an inspiration for what can be achieved with the right tools, the right intentions, and the right desire. The pearl is our national gem, a symbol of our pride and culture. It represents our collective resilience and strength.”

This month, the national gem of the Philippines finds a new home at The Mall | NUSTAR, one of Cebu’s premier shopping destinations. Jewelmer opens its 16th boutique in the Philippines, a grand milestone that also marks the Maison’s 30th year in Cebu.

“This year marks Jewelmer’s 45th anniversary, a significant milestone that would not be possible without the efforts of the individuals who have worked by our side — the collective stewards of the golden pearl’s legacy,” Branellec explains.

Taking heavy inspiration from the island of Palawan, Jewelmer’s latest boutique features textured finishings that recall the warmth of the island’s sandy shores, as well as stunning artwork of its aerial views rendered in the recognizable style of renowned French painter and printmaker, Thomas Godin. Each thoughtful touch aligns with the Maison’s vision of celebrating French-Filipino savoir-faire.

“Our goal was to have people experience the Philippines’ natural beauty in every detail. Upon walking in, customers are greeted with a space that reflects the splendor of Mother Nature. With crasmanship as an expression of luxury, the boutique was thoughtfully conceptualized and designed for over a year, and carefully created with locally-sourced natural materials to give the space a warm and inviting finish,” Branellec expounds.

He adds: “From leaf patterns adorning the walls, to the central carpet and stucco finishings, each element echoes Palawan’s allure. The majestic beauty of the South Sea pearl is also showcased through a variety of finishes, from back wall finishes inspired by the iridescence of a Mother of Pearl shell, to octagonal door and counter knobs that pay tribute to Jewelmer’s eight Palawan pearl farms.”

Starting a New Chapter

The director of The Mall | NUSTAR, Ms. May Adolfo, was present during the unveiling of the new Jewelmer boutique, and participated in its ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Guests and muses wore Jewelmer’s fine jewelry creations as they enjoyed cocktails and canapés by Pig & Palm, as well as Krumble Inc.’s gelato cart, all while admiring the new space.

Even with over four decades in the industry, the beloved brand still has plenty of surprises in store. “Alongside other retail concepts that are in the development process, the Maison is also introducing an exclusive experience to cater to our most discerning customers,” Branellec adds.
