About the Play
Kroetz wrote the play in the early 1970s and first staged it in Stuttgart, Germany. Later, Katharina Hehn translated the play into English. The piece is structured in five parts, all narrating the actions of a single woman during her evening routine.
Tony Award winner Clint Ramos and Bobby Garcia directed and produced the Filipino adaptation. Christopher Mohnani for Ayala Land and GMG Productions joined in producing the play.
According to the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, the audience will surround the stage on all sides. The immersive setup allows for a more intimate and engaging experience.
“When I was asked if I was interested at all in the project, an experience that told a probable and possible story that absolutely applies to our people, I said sure—even before knowing the details,” Salonga said.
“It will be a challenge, but hopefully will lend a figurative voice to those who are suffering,” she added.
“With loneliness being one of the most immediate problems society faces today, my hope is that people will understand mental health more and find compassion for those who suffer,” De Leon also shared.
