According to a study by Tripalti Approve, he will breach the $1,000,000,000,000 mark six years before Jeff Bezos.
According to a recent comparative analysis, Elon Musk is projected to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2024.

Tipalti Approve studied 30 individuals around the world who might have the capacity to breach the trillion dollar mark. Of the people it included, it has deemed that only 21 had a chance to do so in their lifetime, based on current net worth and rate of wealth growth.
Forbes estimated Musk to have a net worth of $263 billion as of last January. “Since 2017, Musk’s fortune has shown an annual average increase of 129 percent, which could potentially see him enter the trillion-dollar club in just two short years, achieving a net worth of $1.38 trillion by 2024 at age 52.”
After selling PayPal for roughly $180 million, he invested into his new companies SpaceX and Tesla. Musk’s 23 percent stake in the latter contributes significantly to his wealth.
SpaceX, the Approve study continues, “generates massive incomes by charging governmental and commercial clients to send various things into space, including satellites, ISS supplies, and people. These two companies combined saw Musk’s fortune soar from $25 billion in 2020 to $263 billion in 2022.”
A year after Musk in 2025, the comparative analysis says that Gautam Adani and his family would follow suit.
“The Adani Group generates the majority of its income from its six major companies, which added an estimated $79 billion to their total market value over the last year. Primarily, the Group generates revenue by completing orders from the government that lead to profits and through the importation of coal and oils which they sell at profitable prices,” the analysis reads.
A year after Adani, in 2026, Beijing ByteDance Technology Co chairman and founder Zhang Yiming is expected to reach Trillionaire status. Yiming’s company is behind the popular platform TikTok as well as Toutiao. Meanwhile, by 2029, Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani and Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton chairman and chief executive Bernard Arnault are expected to join the trillionaires club.
Other notable names of the list are expected to reach this status by 2030 and beyond. These include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos (2030), Google founders Larry Page and Sergiy Brin (2032), Mark Zuckerberg (2034), and Bill Gates (2044).
Tipalti Approve does warn that these projections are still subject to many factors. “The race to be the first trillionaire is still all to play for, as the standings can change very quickly,” it says.
It gives Bezos as an example of this unpredictability. “It was Bezos, not Musk, who a few years ago was expected to become the world’s first trillionaire, and who now isn’t expected to join the club until 2030, some six years after Musk. The volatility of the trillionaire race makes it one to keep an eye on,” the study says.
