Kamala Harris Gains Support Of The Obamas And Beyoncé

More important people are backing the current Vice President leading up to the US elections.

When President Joe Biden announced that he would be stepping down from the next US elections, former President Barack Obama penned a letter commending him for making the difficult decision.

Now a few days later, he and his wife Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

On X, the Obamas both shared a video that shows Harris picking up a call from them, saying “Oh, it’s good to hear you both.”

“I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic,” Michelle Obama said.

“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Barack Obama added.

“Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both,” Harris responded.

“But most of all, I just want to tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years, mean more than I can express. So thank you both. It means so much! And we’re gonna have some fun with this, too, aren’t we?”

In her X post, Michelle Obama also wrote, “Barack and I are so excited to endorse her as the Democratic nominee because of her positivity, sense of humor, and ability to bring light and hope to people all across the country. We’ve got your back, @KamalaHarris!”

A source told CNN that former President Obama has been “a sounding board for her over the 20 years they’ve known each other.”

Who Run The World?

During her first official visit to her campaign headquarters, Harris made a grand entrance to the tune of Beyoncé’s song “Freedom.”

A source told CNN that Harris’ team got quick approval from the singer’s representatives to use the song over the course of her presidential campaign.

While Beyoncé hasn’t written an official endorsement, giving permission to use her song is almost a sure sign of support. It will become closely tied to Harris’ image as the presidential race continues.

Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, is also supporting Harris. Following the announcement that she would be running for President, Knowles posted a photo of her and Harris, writing “New, Youthful, Sharp , , energy !!!!”

The singer already has a history of supporting Democratic candidates. In 2013, she sang the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Years later, she also supported Hillary Clinton’s campaign as well as the Biden-Harris ticket.

Harris’ chosen song, “Freedom,” has become an anthem for the Black Lives Matter movement. Since she used the song, it has received a 1,300% boost in streams.

Following the Beyoncé song and Charli XCX’s “kamala IS brat” post, other artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Barbra Streisand, and Lizzo have also come out in support of Harris.
