Celebrities Breathe New Life Into Past Fashion Moments

These stars have worn their favorite looks more than once, including a dress made by Filipino designer Pitoy Moreno.

Red carpets are prestigious stages for celebrities to show up in their best looks. Sometimes, a dress is so stunning that it can’t be worn just once.

These stars have brought back their favorite ensembles for another shot in the spotlight, for the sake of an excellent fashion moment and perhaps even an eco-conscious choice.

Naomi Campbell

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been in the fashion industry since she was a teen, giving her an extensive archive of notable fashion moments. For this year’s Cannes Film Festival, she chose to wear a Chanel couture dress she once modeled on the catwalk in 1996.

Campbell was only 26 years old when she first wore the black silk tulle and organza dress. The gown is also embroidered with sequins and has beaded pearl straps.

Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Haddish’s Alexander McQueen dress has become iconic throughout her career. In an interview with People, she shared that she has worn the white gown eight times in public. “I spent so much money, and every time I wear it, it’s like another huge moment,” she said.

Some of these instances include the Girls Trip premiere in 2017, when she hosted Saturday Night Live that same year, the 2018 Academy Awards, and People’s 2021 Beautiful Issue.

Rita Moreno

In 1962, Rita Moreno won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story. At the Oscars’ 90th anniversary, she rewore that very same dress over 50 years later.

The black and gold floral dress was made by Filipino fashion designer Pitoy Moreno. As the story goes, Moreno was filming a movie here in the Philippines when she got the news that she was nominated all those years ago. Because of the tight schedule, she had to order the dress locally.

“Every Filipino in the movie was marching down the mountain, singing and calling out congratulations. They all carried signs that said, ‘Mabuhay, Rita! Victory, Rita!’” Moreno wrote in her autobiography.
