Leveraging Expertise: Kim Kardashian Launches a Private Equity Firm With Former Carlyle Group Partner

The reality star, aspiring lawyer, and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian has added a new venture to her many undertakings. Yesterday, the Skims founder launched her own private equity firm, Skky Partners, with Jay Sammons. The latter is a former partner at the investment firm Carlyle Group, where he headed the global consumer, media, and retail sectors.

Big clients are under Sammon’s belt, such as Supreme, Beats by Dr. Dre, Vogue International, Moncler, and McDonald’s China. 

“I’m pleased to announce the launch of @SKKYPartners with private equity veteran Jay Sammons as co-founder and co-managing partner, along with [Kris Jenner], who will serve as [a] partner at our firm,” the 41-year-old announced on Twitter and Instagram.

In a report by the Wall Street Journal, the firm will invest in consumer products in hospitality, luxury, digital commerce, and media. 

Per BBC, celebrities who have launched venture capital firms are Gwyneth Paltrow, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ashton Kutcher.
