Meeting After 80 Years: The Israel Embassy Honors President Manuel L. Quezon

By

It was a unique get-together that the Israel Embassy orchestrated at the ground floor of Manansala in Rockwell. Besides the launch of a comic book narrating the story of the humanitarian act of President Manuel L. Quezon to welcome Jews to the Philippines, it was an occasion for descendants of the families to meet. His daughter Nini Quezon-Avanceña met for the first time Leticia Hahn, who married a son of one of the refugees and raised their family here. Israeli Ambassador Effie Ben Matityau said that President Quezon’s act saved 1,300 Jews from the Holocaust.
