Spring Awakening: The Season’s Key Fashion & Beauty Trends

Spring has sprung, bringing a fresh wave of fashion and beauty trends to inspire your seasonal refresh. From garden florals and charming color palettes to fresh-faced beauty, we explore the key looks defining the season.

The new spring season is finally upon us, and while the past year may have been all about quiet luxury, 2025 is shaping up to be a celebration of creativity and a crafty return to maximalism. Of course, florals remain a staple, emerging as retro chintz patterns and floaty pastel prints. Boho is also making a comeback—albeit in a more feminine form—alongside a renewed love for nautical styles and bright, happy colors.

There is indeed a spirit of boldness and individuality permeating through the air, with silhouettes running the gamut from draped and relaxed to streamlined and structured. A bevy of prints and fabrics has been layered to artistic effect on the runways, with fringe, lace, and broderie anglaise providing sublime tactility.

When it comes to beauty, we are seeing a pared-back approach to the complexion with glassy or soft-blurred skin dominating the conversation. Springtime hues of pink, apricot, lavender, and mint are sweeping across cheeks and eyes, while lips are getting a bolder dose of color. Ultimately, these trends encourage us license to experiment and express ourselves in the most fun and authentic ways. After all, one might say, being ourselves is the most salient and enduring trend of all.

Floral Daydream

There’s something about spring that makes one want to bust out the florals, and this season is no different. All types of botanical prints made their way down the runway, from vintage renditions at Versace to optimistic garden florals at Alice & Olivia and Kenzo. At Loewe, these blooms billow into the scene via sculptural chiffon dresses formed away from the body, perhaps in a bid to take up more space and make their presence felt.

Perfumers, it seems, have gotten the memo, crafting gorgeous bouquets that encapsulate the feel of sunny days and wild meadows. Those seeking elevated scents are certain to find Chloe’s Atelier des Fleurs range delightful. Made to showcase singular floral notes, the fragrances are meant to be layered, allowing one to create unique compositions. One delicate marvel is the Immortelle scent, which shines with a powdery, honey-like sweetness.

Gucci’s Flora range is another collection that posits a modern interpretation of florals, combining femininity with sensuality. Gorgeous Magnolia, for instance, is a white floral with an almost buttery feel, courtesy of its cozy patchouli base. Gorgeous Jasmine, on the other hand, is sweet and fresh—a quality fans of this delicate flower will surely appreciate.

If you’re missing the free-spirited abandon of youth, then Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild is a feminine fragrance of jasmine, vetiver, and banana blossom that captures the exuberance of the outdoors. Another fun take is the Daisy Eau so Fresh, which leads with a fruity mélange of raspberry, pear, lychee, and grapefruit. Mixed in with apple blossom, rose, and jasmine, the scent is very pretty and smells like summertime.

Seaworthy Spring Style

Nautical themes are also making a splash this season, with Breton sweaters and sailor stripes striding down the catwalks of Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler, Schiaparelli, and more. Seaworthy ensembles of net and fringe, on the other hand, were seen at Kenzo in a host of delicious summery hues.

Giving this trend a whimsical refresh is Loewe, via its collaboration with the husband-and-wife ceramicist duo known as Suni Fujita. Watch as playful undersea creatures emerge from the ocean, finding their way onto the leather bags and delightful purses lending them a dreamy, childlike appeal.

Taking this aquatic trend to the next level is the newest scent from Bulgari’s Allegra line, Chill and Sole. Drawing inspiration from the idyllic Mediterranean coastline, the luminous scent opens brightly with lemons and mandarins, which mimic the feel of sunlight filtering through the trees. It then poetically conveys a heart of neroli, jasmine sambac, and orange blossom, giving the scent an optimistic radiance. It balances tenderness with a hint of tartness, giving it a breezy quality. Enhance it with the Magnifying Neroli Eau de Parfum, which exudes all the bold, green, and floral facets of this elegant bloom.

Elevated Denim

Denim is another trend that continues to gain momentum, offering an even greater portfolio of silhouettes this season. All-denim ensembles have become a street style favorite, while separates offer a more versatile daytime look. Even the skinny jeans of the Noughties are cool again—just like the baggier shapes favored by Gen Z.

Encapsulating this cosmopolitan energy is DKNY 24/7, the brand’s olfactory homage to New York City. With the first spritz, the fragrance exudes bright energy, with the aromatic scent of pink pepper and the fruitiness of rhubarb come through. The floral heart of rose centifolia, tuberose, and jasmine sambac quickly emerges, lending the fragrance a creamy richness. A touch of soapiness emerges amidst a woody base, infusing this fruity floral with delightful complexity.

Lanvin’s Modern Princess in Jeans is another scent perfect for the quintessential girl next door. Fresh and clean, it blends blue hyacinth, jasmine, and rose with bright citrusy notes of bergamot and mandarin.

Finish off your denim ensemble with barely-there makeup and a bright crimson lip courtesy of Chanel’s Rouge Coco. With a satiny finish and skincare-infused formulation, the lipstick glides on for a vibrant, and comfortable finish.

Naturally Radiant

On the beauty front, a clean girl aesthetic has emerged with a focus on radiant, dewy complexions. In lieu of the dewy skin of past seasons, this spring is all about a soft-focus effect combined with a subtle glow.

To get the look, try Huda Beauty’s Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation. Formulated to give a blurring effect, it helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections. With its weightless feel and medium buildable coverage, it’s great for everyday use and works even better when paired with the brand’s Easy Blur Primer. The silicone-free primer, on the other hand, helps smooth the skin while controlling oil, and gets foundation to glide on and grip better.

Laura Mercier’s new suite of Pure Canvas Primers is also noteworthy, with three variants designed to address varying needs. The Hydrating primer is ideal for drier skin, helping to combat flakiness and fine lines. The Blurring primer minimizes enlarged pores and smooths texture, ideal for those with oily or combination skin. Lastly, the Illuminating variant brightens skin and combats dullness. To set everything in place, the new Translucent Pressed Setting Powder Ultra-Blur delivers a soft matte finish, perfect for touch-ups on the go.

Another great option for that seamless, dewy finish are cushion foundations, like the Hince Second Skin Glow Cushion. The formulation pats on and blends nicely, giving the complexion a light, pearly finish with the added boon of SPF 50 protection.

Local brands are also upping their game, developing a range of products for a flawless complexion. Teviant’s Ultimate Skin Master Primer is infused with skincare ingredients and creates a radiant, moisturized base for its foundations. Complete the look with the Ultimate Skin Master Loose Powder, which provides skin a velvety, soft finish with special hues for color correction.

Another summery product is Issy’s Active Skin Stick, designed for effortless application and blending while on the go. Its creamy, buildable consistency allows coverage to range from sheer to medium. For a flawless finish, use the Issy True Flex All-Day Setting Spray or opt for the True Flex Gel Powder for a matte effect.

Summer Glow

To pull off that no-makeup makeup look, healthy skin is a must. And as temperatures rise, sun protection becomes even more paramount. We’re loving Shiseido’s Future Solution LX Universal Defense, which conbines sunscreen and moisturizer in one product. In addition to shielding the skin from environmental pollution and UV rays (SPF 50), it also serves as a hydrating makeup base.

Another must-have skincare essential is Shiseido’s Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Advanced Cream, which targets uneven skin tone, sagging, and wrinkles. Formulated with ginseng root extract and other botanicals, this rich, luxurious cream melts effortlessly into the skin, leaving a radiant glow.

Clé de Peau Beauté’s new Precious Gold Vitality Serum is a valuable addition to any skincare routine. Designed for women with hectic lifestyles prone to stress-induced aging, this luxurious serum is infused with 24K gold and Retinol A.C.E. It also fortifies the skin’s barrier while ensuring deep hydration.

Additionally, follow it on with makeup that doubles as skincare, such as Clé de Peau Beauté’s Correcting Cream Veil. The silky primer blurs dullness and imperfections, creating a radiant base for foundation while nourishing skin overtime.

Bohemian Rhapsody

One can say that boho definitively reentered the sartorial conversation in Spring 2024, with the debut collection of Chloé’s new artistic director, Chemena Kamali. This season, the designer delivers another collection of hits, replete with billowy chiffon ensembles and lingerie-inspired dresses that make you want to throw caution to the wind. For more inspiration, look to the runways of Isabel Marant, Valentino, and Zimmermann where eclectic and ruffled ensembles reigned.

On the accessories front, Fendi introduces the Baguette Patchwork bag, meticulously crafted out of leather offcuts from previous collections. The supple leather squares are then hand-knotted by artisans, emerging as an artistic mélange of rich, earthy tones. Promoting circularity while showcasing the Maison’s mastery of materials, it’s a fresh take on a beloved classic.

Spring Pastels

Candy colors are a spring mainstay, with their soft, dreamy tones sweetly capturing the lighthearted spirit of the season. At Alice + Olivia, fairytale gowns made an impression in apricot, sky blue, and rose gold. Butter yellow, powder pink, and pistachio also dominated the runways, appearing as frothy frocks at Valentino and sculpted separates at Prada and Ferragamo.

On the beauty front, Dior presents a makeup collection of playful pastels. Get that doe-eyed look with its Diorshow 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette, rendered this season in a mix of saccharine shades and peachy neutrals. Lips, on the other hand, are plump with a juicy mirror-like finish courtesy of the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer, which is infused with hyaluronic acid and cherry oil.

For a more subtle shimmer, try Guerlain’s KissKiss Bee Glow. The skincare-packed lip balm comes in a selection of juicy colors and can be used on its own or as a base for lipstick. Finish it off with the iconic Meteorites Power for a luminous glow.

In line with this effervescent spirit, there is Burberry’s Her Intense blends a luminous floral aroma with an intriguing gourmand twist. With a cocktail of wild strawberries and orange blossom, the scent is rounded off by warm, ambery wood.

Tropical Paradise

Summer is also the time for beachy escapades, with vibrant tropical hues adding a much-needed zing of energy to our closets. From marigold and vermillion to turquoise and cobalt, there’s no shortage of these joyful shades.

Another fun way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe is with accessories, and Anne Klein’s gemstone ring watch features mother-of-pearl dials in a variety of vibrant shades.

In beauty, we’re also seeing these luscious colors with Clarins’ Lip Oil Balm. Formulated with a plumping peptide and a trio of plant oils, the balm feels luxurious on the lips while delivering a sheer, healthy radiance.

Blush has, of course, become such a buzzword lately, with rosy cheeks a must-have for that vibrant look. Achieve that radiant sheen with Spotlight’s Soft Glow Beauty Wand, which imparts a luminous finish on the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Additionally, the cushion applicator and blendable formula make it perfect for touch-ups. If you prefer a more matte look, try the brand’s Soft Flush Powder Blush, available in gorgeous and wearable shades of peach, terracotta, and pink.

Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse is another summer must-have—a luxurious dry oil that can be used on the skin, hair, and face. Nourishing yet non-greasy, the fragrant oil absorbs instantly, providing long-lasting hydration. The original variant evokes a tropical paradise with its blend of orange blossom, magnolia and vanilla, while the Florale version offers a more feminine composition of magnolia, grapefruit and musk.

White Hot

Of course, what’s summer without an homage to the beauty of white—whether in romantic lace and broderie anglaise or crisp linen and cotton? At Michael Kors, guipure lace and eyelet walked the runway in ladylike dresses or A-line skirts paired with crisp button-down shirts.

Fragrances are also shining with a luminosity, as epitomized by Bulgari’s Omnia Crystalline Eau de Parfum. The sparkling scent opens with the crisp notes of green mandarins and Asian pears, before revealing a heart of green tea lotus accord and jasmine absolute. Honoring its commitment to responsible luxury, the new scent uses jasmine harvested from the “Flower Gems of India” initiative. In cooperation with local farmers trained in sustainable agriculture practices, the pilot program uses a new farming model in Tamil Nadu, India, which helps ensure that this precious bloom can be enjoyed for years to come.

Equally effervescent is Tiffany & Co.’s Rose Gold fragrance, which highlights the citrusy and floral notes of the blue rose, a hybrid of the Japanese rose and violet. At first spritz, the scent opens with the sweetness of blackcurrants, before evolving into a voluptuous prosecco-like scent that makes it an optimistic choice for summer.
