Around a thousand VIPs attended the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) watch fair in Geneva to celebrate the new Da Vinci Collection by IWC Schaffhausen, a modern interpretation of iconic Da Vinci designs from the 1980s. During the day, guests saw displays of the new collection. The highlight was Da Vinci Automatic, which is designed deliberately with women in mind featuring smaller case diameters, moving strap horns, diamond-set bezels and leather straps by Santoni in various colours.
The gala, “Decoding the Beauty of Time”, was hosted by British comedy star, Rob Brydon. As Danish singer MØ performed that night, CEO Georges Kern passed the baton on to his successor, Christoph Grainger-Herr. A short film with featuring Kevin Spacey acknowledged the most important stages in Kern’s 15-year career at the top of the Swiss watchmaking profession. Later, guests enjoyed an elaborately staged holographic show including actor Joseph Mawle of “Game of Thrones”. The film portrayed Leonardo da Vinci’s tireless quest for the connection between science and aesthetics.
