By

Two of the most respected perfumers debuted their newest scents through fresh, sensorial journeys.

The rainy season is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean the fresh fun of summer has to come to an end. Chanel and Jo Malone recently released a roster of fragrances through exciting events that engage with the senses—a fitting way to launch any perfume. If you’re searching for your next favorite scent, these releases might just be exactly what you need.

Fragrances From Les Exclusifs De Chanel

Each creation in this rare collection captures a defining element in Chanel’s spirit: temperament. Comprising 19 Eaux Parfum, Les Exclusifs de Chanel tells the story of the House through powerful, singular characters—each as unforgettable as the legacy it honors.

As for the olfactory journey, the brand first engaged with each guest’s sense of sight. Presented with pictures and colors, I was asked to choose which ones attracted me most based on how I felt.

Next was the sense of sound aspect, where I listened to the story of Oliver Polge, the creator behind Chanel’s exceptional fragrances, whose unique vision is born from his sensitivity to the times and spirit of the brand—think of him as the composer who translates notes into scents.

“When I was 20 years old, I started to learn the métier, and I discovered that music and fragrance share the same language,” Polge shares. “I realized that I had to compose and write formulas made of notes and harmonies.”

The journey continued through the sense of smell stage, which was based on the photos I picked out earlier on. They gave me five Eaux Parfum Les Exclusifs de Chanel scents to smell, then let me choose which one I liked best: I ended up with the scent of Gardénia. The story behind it? Gabrielle Chanel adored white flowers, yet her emblem—the camellia, a flower with an utterly perfect form—has no scent, unlike the gardenia, which it so closely resembles. She imagined a scent in the more fragrant flower’s image, aptly naming it Gardénia.

The brand also showcased the Chanel Gardénia L’Huile (scented body oil), incorporating a sense of touch by massaging the oil onto the skin. I found the oil to be long lasting and hydrating, with a fresh accord featuring accents of jasmine and orange blossom for a lush floral sillage. (Tip: you can top it off with the fragrance.)

Chanel also showcased its Privé experience, which integrated Coromandel screens into its design—something Chanel herself was very fascinated with. There are two rooms: Coromandel and Camelia (which is her favorite flower). Couches are beige, the late designer’s favorite color, while the carpet is also inspired by the House’s iconic tweed.

They have an in-house, Singapore-trained skincare therapist that does Les Soins de Chanel treatments on guests as well. All treatments are done by the one therapist who only uses hand techniques without any machines. You can also request for a fragrance specialist to help you find the perfect fragrance from Chanel’s Les Exclusifs de Chanel line.

Jo Malone Releases Limited-Edition Scent “Raspberry Ripple”

Jo Malone London recently celebrated the launch of their limited-edition scent, Raspberry Ripple, with a seaside-inspired event at SM Aura. Drawing from the nostalgic charm of the British coast, the event recreated a whimsical boardwalk atmosphere, complete with charming carts offering a range of experiences—from a curated charcuterie spread and refreshing Pure Nectar drinks to Pinkerton ice cream and a retro-style photobooth.

Guests also enjoyed live caricature sketches done in just a few minutes, adding a playful, personal touch. At the heart of the event was the Jo Malone booth, where attendees could sample the Raspberry Ripple scent and explore layering it with the classic Wood Sage & Sea Salt fragrance.

The scent itself is a tribute to the classic British dessert. With a top note of red currant, a heart of raspberry, and a base of white musk, Raspberry Ripple is a fruity, creamy blend that evokes the joy of summer.

“There are notes of raspberries, strawberries, and red fruits, with bergamot as a bright highlight,” explains Céline Roux, Global Head of Fragrance at Jo Malone London. “A pinch of white musk adds a creamy effect—like real vanilla ice cream—balanced by sandalwood and woody nuances in the base.” Available in 30ml and 100ml bottles, Raspberry Ripple is the essence of a carefree summer’s day by the sea—sweet, refreshing, and just a little indulgent.
