Imagine making your way through the crystal blue waters of your Capri or Palawan in your own yacht. But instead of a regular run of a mill boat, yours is glimmering in silver and looks like a speeding bullet. Its swiftness is incomparable and its ride is smooth, no matter the pace you are going. This is a Lexus on water, literally. The luxury car brand has developed their new Sport Yacht concept, the ideal companion for any aspiring sea boat captain with the discerning taste of all things lavish but functional.
Recently presented at the Japan International Boat Show in Yokohama last March 8, 2018, the new concept earned rave reviews, even winning the Special Award for Boat of the Year. Watch out soon (check back on our site for further updates) as Lexus plans future production of the sports yacht. The one-of-a-kind project seamlessly incorporates the power and engine of the iconic automotive with the timeless beauty of yachting. Conceived and engineered by the Toyota Marine Division, the concept was built in partnership with Marquis-Larson Boat Group of Pulaski (Green Bay) Wisconsin, USA.
Lexus President Yoshihiro Saw, who was present during the boat show, was excited to announce that the yacht will be available for sale around the world soon. “Based on our amazing experiences in engineering, building, testing and showing the Lexus Sport Yacht concept last year, we’ve decided to take the next bold step of producing an all-new larger yacht that builds on the advanced nature of the concept while adding more comfort and living space,” he shared. The yacht first premiered last January 2017 to a select group of press from around the world. Lifestyle Asia Editor-in-Chief Anna Sobrepeña was in attendance for the first preview.
The new yacht is complete with staterooms below deck and an entertaining space for up for 15 guests. In addition, it will be connected with the company’s new Mobility Services Platform (MSPF) which provides security, smartphone integration, remote diagnostics, and maintenance, tailored to give convenience to its owners. The hull, inner structure and superstructure of the sport cruisier is made of hand-laid carbon-fiber fabric, vacuum-infused with two-part polyurethane resin. It is powered by two marinized versions of the Lexus 2UR-GSE 5.0L performance V8 engines, which is used in the high-performance Lexus RC F coupe, GS F sefan and the new LC 500 grand tourer.
“We plan to start sales in the U.S. in the latter half of 2019, with sales in Japan following in the spring of 2020,” Tomoyama continued. Although we still have a full year before we can get our hands one of these beauties, it’s a comfort to know that Lexus has plans to satisfy their clientele with love for the water. See you at Capri come summer next year!
