Singapore and the Philippines Come Together to Fight COVID-19 - Sponsored

Amidst the pandemic, relations between the two countries have been strengthened.

Neighboring countries Singapore and the Philippines have a strong diplomatic relationship that has been flourishing for over 51 years now. From promoting tourism and their cultures to providing jobs and livelihoods to the other’s citizens, the two nations share an affinity for each other. At the onset of COVID-19, their ties have been strengthened further by looking out for each other’s welfare.

Through thick and thin

Singapore has been one of the most admired countries when it comes to handling the pandemic. During the outbreak in the Philippines, Singapore was one of the first to come to our country’s aid. So far, the Singapore government and Singaporean organisations like Temasek Foundation have donated 100,000 N95 masks, more than 20,000 RNA Extraction Kits, 63,000 COVID-19 tests, 3000 sets of PPEs, 700 Oxygen Concentrators, 400 units of BiPAP devices, two ventilators, and a specialised RT-PCR machine. Singapore has been actively lending a hand to the Philippines to ease the rise of the number of cases.

Sharing the spirit of bayanihan

While Singapore has gifted the Philippines with machines and kits necessary to overcome the pandemic, many Filipinos continue to serve valiantly in the city-state. In the middle of Singapore’s circuit breaker, and even after that, Filipino frontliners have been dedicated to working in the country to provide its citizens with a safer environment. For their hard work and perseverance, Singapore gave thanks to these unsung heroes through a heartfelt tribute video. This video features relatives of Filipino frontliners serving in Singapore throughout the pandemic, praising them for their commitment. Watch the video here:

Salamat sa mga Filipino frontliners sa Singapore. Para sa inyo 'to.

Taking extra measures to look after its own locals and Filipino frontliners in the country, Singapore has strengthened its defenses against COVID-19 with restrictions on travelling and gatherings, and by continuing to monitor the activities of the people when they go out. Until it’s safe to fly out again, witness the nation’s must-visit places and unmissable experiences through Singapore’s tourism website, or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
