Lea Salonga's First-Ever Wax Figure Is Unveiled

Musical theater legend Lea Salonga saw the unveiling of her first ever wax figure from Madame Tussauds Singapore, which honors her storied career as one of the world’s finest voices.

Lea Salonga is a name that needs no further introduction, both within her home country of the Philippines and internationally. The actress and singer has won many accolades throughout her lifetime, including her groundbreaking 1990 Olivier and 1991 Tony awards for her role as Kim in Miss Saigon. From singing as Disney princesses like Jasmine and Mulan to cementing herself as a musical theater legend through her roles like Eponine in Les Misérables (she was also the first Asian to ever play the part), Salonga has earned her place as an enduring figure in the world’s arts and culture scene. Recently, Madame Tussauds Singapore honored her legacy through an exclusive event in Solaire Resort Entertainment City, Parañaque, unveiling the star’s first-ever wax figure.

Immortalizing A Legend

Salonga’s wax figure bears an uncanny resemblance to her, dressed in an elegant blue gown created by her lifelong friend and favorite designer, Rajo Laurel. The piece, which she refers to as her “workhorse gown,” features a flattering corset and crepe fabric that perfectly complements the singer.

“I chose this dress as I felt it best represented my personality and sensibilities when deciding what to wear for performances,” Salonga explains in a statement. “This gown served me so well for so many shows, so it felt right for it to be continued to be seen on Madame Tussaud’s wax likeness of me.”

Madame Tussauds Singapore’s team of skilled sculptors took six months to create the impressive wax figure, ensuring that every detail captured the singer’s likeness and distinct charm.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lea to our star-studded attraction,” shares Elaine Quek, Head of Sales and Marketing at Madame Tussauds Singapore. “Together with Lea, we have chosen a pose that exudes her magnetic presence on stage where her talent and personality shine through. We hope that through this figure, her legacy continues to inspire visitors globally.”
