Takes A Real Man: Why Brad Pitt Came To The Red Carpet Wearing A Skirt

It takes an A-list Hollywood star to get the world questioning gender norms.

Academy Award-winning actor Brad Pitt has provided the world with many critically acclaimed performances. This time, however, he plays with gender roles.

Pitt recently attended the preview of his new action film Bullet Train in Berlin.

His red carpet look gained widespread attention in both news and social media.

From head to toe, Pitt wore linen: a brown jacket over a salmon button-up shirt with black combat boots to match.

The star of the show, however, was his knee skirt.

Asked about his all-linen skirt look, Pitt simply told the Associated Press: “The breeze. The breeze.”

He has since drawn comparisons to the likes of Harry Styles and Billy Porter, who have similarly subverted gender norms in men’s fashion

Though the internet is now celebrating Pitt’s trending skirt, he’s been normalizing “womenswear” for men as early as 1999.

At the time, the actor was promoting Fight Club. He wore several minidresses as part of his Rolling Stone feature, even rocking one on the magazine’s cover.

In 2019, he also said his “most challenging film,” Ad Astra, seeks to redefine masculinity.

“In retrospect…what we were really digging at, without labeling it so much, was this definition of masculinity. Having grown up in an era where we were taught to be strong, not show weakness, don’t be disrespectful,” Pitt told the media at the Venice film festival.
