Last Wednesday, the nominees for the 75th Emmy Awards were announced. Several HBO shows are leading the pack, receiving the most nominations,
Succession is once again at the top with 27 nominations. The Last of Us closely follows with 24 nominations. The post-apocalyptic series is the first video game adaptation to receive major Emmy attention.

Leaning into darker themes, shows like Yellowjackets, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and Beef also received multiple nods from the Television Academy.
With 13 nominations, Dahmer is this year’s most recognized limited/anthology series. Roku’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story tops the TV movie category with eight nods while RuPaul’s Drag Race, with seven, is the top unscripted series.
Following HBO, streaming service Netflix is the second most recognized platform. Its shows Beef, Dahmer, and Wednesday all pulled double digit nominations.
This year’s Emmy nominations recognize TV shows that ran from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023. Community’s Yvette Nicole Brown and Television Academy chairman and CEO Frank Scherma announced the nominees during a live webstream last Wednesday morning.
The 75th Emmy Awards is scheduled to air on September 18, 2023. However, the ongoing writers and actors strikes are likely to push the ceremony to November or even January 2024.
Actors that are part of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) cannot promote their projects during the strike. This is why they have halted or postponed red carpet premieres and events like the Emmys for the time being.
