The Academy Museum Gala Honors 4 Luminaries

The fundraiser at the annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala earned more than $10 million in support of the museum.

A-list celebrities showcased their phenomenal looks at the annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala, bedazzling the red carpet. The gala became the first major event Hollywood held since the strikes concluded, according to Vanity Fair.

The star-studded evening celebrated the museum’s anniversary as well as honored four Hollywood personalities for their contributions in the industry.

The major event not only highlighted the stars that lit the joyous evening, but saw through a fundraising that earned over $10 million.

Academy Museum honors four personalities

The Academy presented four awards that reflect its mission to advance the understanding, celebration, and preservation of film. Honorees included Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Sophia Coppola, and Michael B. Jordan.

Winfrey received the Pillar Award from Ava DuVernay, symbolizing her leadership and support for the Academy Museum.

The Academy honored Streep with the Academy Museum Gala Icon Award with Greta Gerwig as presenter. It signified the actress’ significant global cultural impact.

Jordan’s sister Jamila received his award on his behalf as he was unable to attend the gala. Christopher Nolan bestowed the Vantage Award to Jordan. Coppola acquired the Visionary Award which Chloe Zhao presented.

2023 Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala highlights

Vogue reported that Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the Academy Awards next year, which is slated for March 2024. It will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.
