The by-invitation lounge discussion with Yabu Pushelberg offered meaningful insights about the globally renowned design firm’s vision for Park Villas, Ayala Land Premier’s newest luxury residential property.
“The Art of Design: A Conversation with Yabu Pushelberg” featured the Manila debut of acclaimed designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg at The Conservatory in The Peninsula Manila. Guests had the privilege of an insider’s look at the design vision for Ayala Land Premier’s Park Villas, the company’s newest luxury development right in the heart of Makati’s Central Business District. The property marks Yabu Pushelberg’s first foray in the Philippines, backed by a portfolio that includes luxury properties like the Four Seasons New York Downtown, Aman Residences Tokyo, and Park Hyatt Shenzen.

Design born from innate curiosity
George Yabu shares, “Our design philosophy begins the moment you step through the door or exit the elevator. It’s not just about the materials we use, but about the quality and essence of the space itself. We focus on how it feels, how it flows, and how it enhances the experience of those who live there.”
Emphasizing the human-centric approach, Glenn Pushelberg says, “This project was crafted with people in mind. The clientele of Park Villas are individuals who have seen the world in all its grandeur—many of them likely own properties across the globe. It was crucial for us to design at that level of sophistication. At the same time, we wanted to weave in the subtle nuances of Filipino life and bring an experience that can only truly be appreciated here.”

Vincenzo Tagle, managing director at Griffinstone, Inc., says, “Yabu Pushelberg’s renowned design philosophy, which marries elegance with functionality, has brought our vision into reality. Their innovative approach makes us excited about the transformative impact we will make on Park Villas and the lives of those who call it home.”
A Compelling Partnership
Ayala Land Premier chief operating officer Paolo Viray tells Lifestyle Asia, “It took us a while to look for a design partner. We had a long list, trimmed it down to a short list, and then we had to go through a very tedious process of looking for that right design partner we felt could deliver the experience we want for our clients.”
Ayala Land Premier’s project development head, Cherryl Uy elaborates, “We have been working with Yabu Pushelberg on Park Villas for a while and we knew that they are a design firm with a really global perspective. So we want to emphasize that, we want to talk about that and we felt that that’s something that aligns with our goal to push boundaries in design for our projects.”
Located across the Ayala Triangle Gardens, Park Villas is an exclusive residential development offering guests unparalleled privacy, with only 45 villas in total, each 610-square meter villa occupying an entire floor
When asked to describe the luxury experience that residents will enjoy in Park Villas, Uy says, “There are only 45 villas in this tower, so the exclusivity it provides alone already emphasizes that luxury lifestyle. Sometimes luxury manifests also in the opportunity for each owner to make the space their own. And with that much space they can really put what they want in their living space.”
The Luxury Of Choice
In addition, Viray states, “We usually highlight three things. First is location. If you look at the location, it’s right across Ayala Triangle, which is very special to us and then Che [Cherryl Uy] talked about exclusivity–we only have 45 villas in the development. And then the space–one villa is at 610 square meters. So it really gives you the space you need.”
Viray emphasized, “It’s the first time we have a product like this–one villa to a floor which highlights how special the property is. We’re very happy that the Tagle Family entrusted us with this special property.”
When asked how they feel about working with Filipinos on their first project here in the Philippines, George shared that “There’s a joy here, an absolute joy that we’re familiar with in Canada. It’s not unfamiliar at all, the culture.”
On their definition of true luxury, Glenn believes that “luxury is about choice.” Summed up succinctly by host Issa Litton: “Luxury is about having a choice and having an informed way to have that choice. And that is what Ayala Land Premier and the Tagle family are here to do–to give that choice.”
