On the front row, listen to A-listers such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Natalie Portman, Rosamund Pike, Jennifer Garner, and more as they arrive and discuss the collection.

Your Next Binge Watch

Sit back and relax for a few hours while catching up on these must-watch series and films about the biggest names in luxury fashion.

In AppleTV’s The New Look, the series follows fashion designers Christian Dior and Coco Chanel through the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris and its aftermath. The two fashion powerhouses form an intense rivalry while on their rise to the top.

The 10-episode series features Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel. Other big names in the show include Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, and Glenn Close as Carmel Snow.

FX also dove into the life and death of another renowned designer with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. While much of the series follows spree killer Andrew Cunanan, it also recounts Versace’s rise in the fashion industry, his tumultuous personal life, and his tragic death.

Édgar Ramírez played Versace while Darren Criss took on the role of Cunanan. Ricky Martin played Antonio D’Amico, Versace’s long-term partner, and Penélope Cruz starred as Donatella Versace, who was a creative partner and muse to her brother. The series went on to win seven Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and more.

Ridley Scott’s 2021 film House of Gucci was inspired by the true story of the Gucci family dynasty, adapted from Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 non-fiction book of the same name. It stars Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino.

The film follows the relationship between Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga) and Maurizio Gucci (Driver). Their romance eventually turns sour as they fight for control of the Italian fashion brand.

There are several other biographical films about some of the world’s most famous fashion designers. In the 2008 documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor, Vanity Fair special correspondent Matt Tyrnauer produced and directed the film about Valentino Garavani’s life.

While it focuses on the Italian designer’s career, it also explores the larger themes affecting the fashion business and his relationship with his business partner and companion of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.

In 2014, a French biographical drama film titled Saint Laurent was released. The late actor Gaspard Ulliel portrayed Yves Saint Laurent, starring alongside Jérémie Renier, Louis Garrel, and Léa Seydoux.

The film is centered around the height of Saint Laurent’s career, following his life from 1967 to 1976. It competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and received nominations at the César Awards as well as the Lumières Awards where Ulliel was honored as Best Actor.
