To the Philippine Youth, Tarzeer Pictures’ First Exhibit “Barado” Cannot Be Missed - Arts & Culture

Tarzeer Pictures has recently launched its first exhibit, Barado, which will run till Saturday, May 19 2018 at their gallery in Makati. Featuring photography, video, animation, and painting work from emerging Filipino artists, the well-curated exhibit “invites viewers to explore the physical and mental “clogs” that obstruct our idealized order.”

“It is an often exasperating and contradictory place where our potential and desires are made more apparent through the obstacles that stand in their way. By examining how the movement of people, time, and history—both personal and national—are impeded, what we consider essential comes into sharper focus. There is nothing we know more intimately than the passage of time. It is for this reason, its blockage frustrates us so,” shared Tarzeer about the exhibit which showcases the works of budding, local talents.

At the show’s opening last April 24, Lifestyle Asia was able to explore the world of Barrado. Such notable works exhibited include black-and-white photographs by Gio Panlilio, whose outsider look at cities such as Quipo, Ilocos, and Bangkok, are taken with an impressive vigor. One of Jono Duran Pisano’s works sold at the event for PHP 70,000. The painting was an overlay of multiple individual photos, photo shopped into one, and then painted over.

FurOnFire Enzo Razon’s installation payed tribute to his longtime nanny, Rose. Through his work, he depicts his fond childhood experiences with her by painting flowers on a nanny’s uniform and on canvas. Below it, he has created an alter made out of 350 cans of corned beef. The impressive line-up of artists also includes Jappy Agoncillo, Jose Alvarez, Lakantula, Jaqueline Pisano, Martin San Diego, and Alex Westfall.

Debuting with a show as strong as Barado, it is exciting to watch out for Tarzeer’s next exhibit. For the meantime, aspiring artists and art aficionados should drop by the current exhibit for a dose of inspiration before the show closes on the 19th of May. The works on the walls were conceived by the youth and were derived out of pure passion. It is fascinating to experience. Rizal has put it best, through his iconic poem entitled To the Philippine Youth, which calls for the young to unfold from timid flowers into their full potential. With Tarzeer Pictures on the lookout for emerging talent, the opportunity for young artists to bloom is very much possible.

Barado is showing till May 19, 2018 at Tarzeer Pictures’ gallery located at 2288 Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati, Metro Manila. For more information email [email protected] or text/call +639178105715
