Johnny Depp will release 18, his album with English musician Jeff Beck, on July 15.

The record consists of 13 tracks, many of which are song covers of artists like the Beach Boys and Marvin Gaye.

Additionally, it includes two of Depp’s original songs, “This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr” and “Sad Motherf*ckin’ Parade.”

The duo made the announcement just a week after Depp won his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. However, they have been working on the album since 2019.

Mutual admiration

“It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother,” Depp said in the joint release.

Beck likewise praised his creative partner.

“He was a major force on this record. I just hope people will take him seriously as a musician. Because it’s a hard thing for some people to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll,” Beck said in the release.

The two met in 2016, when they found common ground “over cars and guitars.”

“When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again, so that just became the album title, too,” Beck said.

The pair have since released the official music video for the album’s first single.
