This September, the award-winning musical will be heading to the Philippines for its first ever Asian tour.
Yesterday, production company GMG Productions posted a short video of Lin-Manuel Miranda simply saying “Kumusta Philippines? What’s up dude, pare?”
The five second clip already had Filipino fans of Hamilton buzzing. It’s been eight years since the musical premiered off-Broadway but many have had to settle for watching the filmed version.
On March 28, the official announcement was made: Hamilton will be taking off on its first Asian tour, starting with the Philippines.

About the musical
Hamilton tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the United States’ Founding Fathers, and the other historical figures who have influenced his life.
The musical premiered on February 17, 2015, at the Public Theater in Lower Manhattan, with Miranda playing the lead role.
The production moved to the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway on August 6 in the same year.
Since then, Hamilton has received a record-breaking 16 nominations and 11 awards at the 70th Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Afterward, the production went on three separate US tours from 2017 to 2019.
In 2016, it received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Aside from West End, Hamilton has also had runs in Chicago, Los Angeles, Hamburg (the first non-English translation), and most recently Toronto.
Filipino fans surely won’t throw away their shot at being in the room where it happens!
