Called “The Grand French Wine and Cheese Tour,” it is a program of virtual and in-person tasting events. Done every first Saturday of the month, it will present the wines, cheeses and other gastronomic specialties of each region in France.

For the first edition on March 5, participants will discover the outstanding wines, delightful cheeses, and other gastronomic specialties of the Loire Valley. Located in the middle stretch of one of the longest rivers in Europe, the Loire River, this region is also known as the garden of France and the land of castles.

To represent the great diversity of this region, The Tasting Club has selected various wines produced from popular grape varieties.

From Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, the models for Sauvignon Blanc around the world, the participants will be able to experience different expressions of Chenin Blanc (sparkling, dry, semi-sweet and sweet wine) and the fresh, easy Muscadet made from Melon de Bourgogne. Finally, to offer a full experience of this wine exploration of the Loire Valley, the participants will be also able to enjoy different Cabernet Franc red wines from Chinon and Saumur Champigny.

A selection of three traditional cheeses featuring Sainte-Maure de Touraine (goat’s milk cheese), Saint Paulin (cow’s milk cheese) and Vieux Pané (cow’s milk cheese) will also be presented.

Other gourmet specialties such as the regional Sarthoise Pork Rillettes (a traditional pork pate preparation delicious with bread and cornichons) and Les Rillons de Tours (slow cooked bacon) with mustard will also be tried. The participants have the option to join the tasting either online or in-person at the restaurant Society Lounge, in Makati.

For the in-person tasting event, we require participants to be fully vaccinated and present their vaccination card and/or booster card if applicable to ensure a safe tasting experience for all of us.

To join the presentation and tasting online, all participants can order their very own tasting kit to be delivered on the day of the event with this link. To join the in-person tasting at Society Lounge, all attendees can book their seat here.

The presentation will be conducted by Kevin Charuel, founder of The Tasting Club, and accessible via Zoom, FB Live, and at Society Lounge.

The inaugural edition is scheduled on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 5pm. For inquiries you may contact Kevin Charuel, founder of The Tasting Club at [email protected].
