The 18.18 carat pear-shaped fancy vivid pink diamond led the Geneva Magnificent Jewels sale during this auction house’s Luxury Week.
Christie’s YouTube page shares that “the Fortune Pink is an exceptionally rare gemstone and is the largest fancy vivid pink pear-shaped diamond ever to be offered for sale at auction.” The auction house adds, “Weighing an auspicious 18.18 carats, the diamond’s weight literally translates to definite prosperity in Asia and is sure to garner interest from collectors across the globe.”
It was estimated to sell for US$ 25,000,000 – 35,000,000 during Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva. The exceptionally rare jewel was on view at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues until November 8.

In a report by CBS News, the four-minute bidding through three-way battle between telephone bidders began at 17 million Swiss francs, and the diamond sold for more than $28.5 million to a private Asian collector after upping the competitor by half a million. The same report states that before returning to Switzerland, the gem stone was on exhibit in Geneva, New York, Shanghai, Taiwan, and Singapore.
