The Tiffany & Co. flagship store in New York City’s Fifth Avenue is iconic. Long before Audrey Hepburn stepped out of a yellow taxi cab and had her croissant and coffee at the storefront, lovers of luxury already longed to have a package wrapped in Tiffany Blue®. It was the flagship store of the brand founded in 1837, and no visit to the Big Apple has ever been complete without entering 727 Fifth Avenue. Today, the company has announced the highly anticipated renovation of the store’s fourth floor, which includes their first ever retail dining concept, The Blue Box Café. It is surrounded by hand-drawn ampersands, a design motif of the latest Home & Accessories collection, which is also housed in the newly opened floor. At the center, is a modern portrait of company founder Chares Lewis Tiffany. It has been rendered with 8,000 painted screws, giving the space a contemporary touch.
“Both the café and redesign of the Home & Accessories floor reflect a modern luxury experience. The space is experimental and experiential—a window into the new Tiffany,” shared Reed Krakoff, Chief Artistic Director of Tiffany & Co. It was Tiffany’s mission to incorporate modern detailing, while remaining to pay homage to their rich history. Touches of herringbone marble and amazonite stone is also a surprisingly, but welcomed, addition to the space.
