The bold and bright campaign sees actors Stacy Martin, Samara Weaving, Agathe Rousselle and Hoyeon alongside singer Lous and the Yakuza, among others against dazzling colored backdrops. Captured in dance-like motion, a hint to the ball-inspired gowns of the collection, they represent the intemporal and confident aesthetic of the Spring–Summer 2022 collection.
The new Petite Malle East West and varied colorways of Coussin and Twist also take pride of place, swinging in the foreground of the pop-colored campaign. The Moonlight sandals—tall and short—complete the looks as the footwear of choice to dance the summer away.
The clothes themselves take you to different decades. Crinolines evoke Louis Vuitton’s early days. A stock of 19th century beads was found and used on the first-looks dresses. These pieces, called Ellipse dresses, are light and ethereal crafted from shredded chiffon, worn with tails or spences, and incorporating slashes of embroideries. While past seasons centered on innovative techniques, this year s about the pure excellence of various specialized crafts.
For its urban wardrobe, we are taken back to the 90s, which is filled day-to-night pieces using elaborated shapes in a dissolution of functions and codes. The show’s key statement, denim, is made of organic cotton. Elsewhere, English embroidery and other embellishments highlight layering and feminine silhouette. Tailoring is also highlighted, with such creations as sleeveless jackets with Brandebourg-like details.
Other decades and eras is also represented with the collection’s take on uniforms, which are made more sumptuous with its mish-mash of elements. These are paired with 80’s polka dots style blouses and 19th century style ruffle collars worked with metal wires.
When it comes, a new star is revealed with The Swing, Nicolas Ghesquièr’s own creation. It is a new and unique expression among on-trend elongated formats. Drawing inspiration from the famous Pochette Metis, the Swing is all about East-West proportions. The S-lock exposure, treated in a substantial mix of golden and silver finishings, is no exception to this stretched interpretation.
New animations are also introduced, from Jerrycan and Monogram lace to LV Libellule and LV Peacock. The Capuciness BB was also revamped in two different versions, a graphic white with black polka dots and one with a black pleated malletage.
The campaign will be unveiled in February print issues and on online platforms worldwide simultaneous to the release of the new Women’s Spring Summer 2022 collection in store on February 25.
