Araw

Araw makes “tropical staples” for sun-loving Filipinos. Looking at their collection reminds us that it’s fun dressing for our humid weather. The local brand sells everything from breezy men’s holiday shirts and jumpsuits to elegant presko shift dresses and other linen pieces. New momma Isabelle Daza was just spotted wearing their pleated jumpsuit on her travels abroad.

Halo Halo

Halo Halo finds creative ways to incorporate their woven fabrics into unusual designs. For instance, they don’t only make clothing, but home items as well. Their backrests (which they call the sandal) was created because “you need to rest your back when you’re on the sand or grass”. The quirky brand has been a hit with Filipinos. Their recent outing at the Artefino Fair was a huge success, selling out their entire inventory. Till this day, we still hear people saying they want Halo Halo’s biyahe and palengke totes.

La Filippine

Recently making an appearance at the latest Artefino Fair at 8 Rockwell, La Filippine is a brand that creates “contemporary accessories designed with French restraint and handcrafted by Filipino artisans”. They carry a selection of beautifully constructed pieces from braided sandals and espadrilles to fashion friendly basket bags.

PIOPIO

Under the creative eye of Paloma Urquijo Zobel, PIOPIO is fun and bold in its use of fabrics and color. It’s a major plus that the brand sources their material from traditional Filipino weavers as a way to shine a light on local artistry. Their bio on Instagram reads “weaving funky Filipino into everyday wear” and we completely agree. PIOPIO has dressed many of Manila’s fashion-forward crowd, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Weave

The brain child of Filipino designer Brit Romero, the local brand is quickly rising as a staple of young fashionistas. In our recent coffee table book on millennials changing the Philippines, Romero said that her goal as creative director is to make a difference by “designing things that go beyond clothing and making people feel beautiful and comfortable about themselves.”

Weave is located at UP Town Mall BGC and Shangri-La Plaza. For more information, follow Weave on Instagram at @weavephl or visit their website https://weave.com.ph
