Adventurous Spirit: Aston Martin Launches the DBX, its first SUV

The automaker has been working on it since 2015.

Aston Martin has been developing an SUV since 2015, was put on the test track in 2018, and was finally released this year. This is a significant move for the 108-year-old British Marque.

The DBX reached Manila through the Tagle Group of Companies. “We are confident that the Filipino market will warmly embrace this move of Aston Martin,” says the Group’s chairman Marc Louie Y. Tagle, who also serves as president of Aston Martin Manila.

“Admittedly, we are an SUV nation,” he continues. “We love to cruise with our adventurous spirit and bring family, friends, and loved ones along for the ride. Aston Martin captures this passion and adds its trademark luxury and beauty for the ultimate driving experience.”

A new version of the 4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in DB11 and Vantage powers the SUV. It features an output of 550PS and 700NM of torque, tuned to meet the specific needs of this model.

The turbocharged V8 engine has cylinder deactivation to enhance fuel economy, yet it can also propel DBX from 0 to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 181mph.

Comfortable ride

According to Tagle, the DBX has one of the best rides in the Super SUV range. The DBX drives like no other SUV. It drives like a sports car.

It has an adaptive triple volume air suspension combined with the latest 48v electric anti-roll control system (eARC) and electronic dampers to provide the new SUV adaptability to different terrains.

Its design allows for maximum room in the cabin. Its makers say it placed a premium on refinement and spaciousness for both front and rear occupants.

With 632 liters of boot space and 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, DBX possesses all the flexible load capacity expected of an SUV with class-leading interior space. The loadspace offers practicality for various luggage, such as suitcases, golf bags, and ski equipment.

Customers in mind

The DBX can also be personalized with the Q program, which caters to the customer needs.

For example, the “pet package” comes with a portable washer for your furry one’s paws after a walk, or a boot warmer for those who live in icy climates. The DBX has been designed for the comfort of the front and rear passengers.

The full-length glass panoramic roof and frameless door glass create a well-lit and spacious cabin. A sportscar seat in the front provides the driver with ample support and long-distance driving comfort and provides knee and footwell clearance for those sitting behind.
