Andi Manzano on Navigating Her Roles as a Mom Influencer

Being a parent and a content creator means working double or triple shifts a night; Andi Manzano-Reyes shares an approach on how she does it all, while still being able to support her daughter Amelia’s future

We all appreciate and marvel at the work of content creators. Whether they are from YouTube advertisement vloggers to Spotify podcasters to Instagram stars to TikTok influencers, the ideas are practically everywhere. It gives an impression that creating them is purely dazzle and sparkle, and that all it takes is a camera and an internet connection. The reality is, in pursuit of relevant and engaging content, much of the heavy lifting gets done behind the scenes, when no one else is around to watch.

Just imagine if, on top of being a Filipino content creator, you’re also a parent who wears several hats, like Andi Manzano-Reyes. To say it’s a next-level challenge is an understatement. As a mom, helping with homework, waking up before everyone else to make breakfast, and knowing where to find just about everything in the house are only, and probably, some of her most visible loads. What sometimes goes unnoticed are the feelings of fear and stress. “You know, as parents, we get worried sometimes with our kids,” Andi admits during a media congress on September 13, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. “We don’t know what’s in store for them in the future.”

Behind the curtain

For such a multifaceted woman as Andi, not every family activity is an opportunity for content creation. However, she acknowledges being blessed to be able to witness Amelia’s milestones everyday—from being a little helper to Andi at the grocery store to creating mini unboxing vlogs to making her own rainbow pancakes. “At home, I see how she’s growing up now to be such an ate already,” she tells Lifestyle Asia. “So when it comes to her development, I really believe that [me being present] is so important.”

“As much as I’m distracted with phones, laptops, and work, I always try to be there. I read nga somewhere that if you spend time with your child for nine minutes straight, that means you’ve already built a connection with them. I was like, ‘How? Nine minutes lang?’ Imagine if we could give more,” she probes.

Change of direction

True enough, there is still a lot a parent can give to their children, beginning with the choices on how they support their children’s future. “Like, you have to look at them as a whole, not just certain areas that you want to focus on… Their immunity, their brain development, their digestion, and growth,” the mom influencer shares. “Amelia is also allergic, so that’s another area I have to consider for her holistic health.”

“I want [Amelia] to excel in everything that she does. I want her to strive and be that person she wants to be. All parents want that [for their kids].”

It has always been about being intentional just like how her mom was with her when she was younger. “You really [do] become like your mother,” Andi jokes, sharing that she did not change anything from the methods she learned and copied. “I saw my mom do this, and I feel like it works.”

When asked about how she prepares her 4-year-old Amelia for her future, Andi Manzano-Reyes was swift to answer that her approach always starts with what she feeds her daughter. “Nutrition plays a big role in all of these,” she states. “You have to know what to give them to support their holistic development. That’s why I’m so glad to have found NANKID® because it gives Amelia the holistic advantage that I was looking for.”
