Art, Design, and Convivial Company: A Purposeful Gathering - Arts & Culture

Creatives, collectors, and connoisseurs gathered together over a collective love for aesthetics and contributing to a worthy cause at gavel&block ‘art+design’ preview party last January 26.

Welcoming individuals celebrated in their respective fields in art and design, the event was attended by arbiters of taste JJ Acuna, Ria Augousti, Ram Lopez Bucoy, Tesa Celdran, Cecile Ravelas, Stephen Morrison; and fashion and style icons Myrza Sison, Liza Ilarde, and Joann Bitagcol among many others.

Also present were BBDO Chairman and Chief Creative Officer David Guerrero, and Pepsico Inc. Corporate Affairs Head Anne-Marie Corominas, the prime movers of Project Re-Dew, a fundraising campaign for the rebuilding of Siargao Island after the devastation wrought by Super Typhoon Odette (Rai) last December 2021. BBDO Guerrero Creative Directors Nikki Sunga and Andi Obles conceptualized, designed, and transformed wooden wreckage from the typhoon, binding them with neon resin from upcycled PET bottles. Five ‘Scrapboards’ were meticulously created, each uniquely representing an iconic location in Siargao and symbolizing hope and recovery of the island.

Interior decorator Ram Lopez Bucoy was considering decorative pieces for his various projects; while Cecile Ravelas, founder of RED Interior Design, had her eyes on choice art pieces for a resort project.
