Corporate and dance are two words that seem like antonyms. Each word conjures a strikingly different image—the former evokes something that is meek and gray, while the latter suggests a world that is colorful and full of life. Yet, these worlds collide in FIFTH WALL’s Time Out.
Time Out is a site-specific performance featured in the International Dance Day Fest Opening Night Gala on April 23, 2025, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. As the headline act, it welcomes guests with an unexpected sight: the venue’s escalators subtly transforming into vertical stages, with dancers seemingly frozen mid-step on their journey to the auditorium. The performance sets the tone for creatives, cultural changemakers, and new audiences attending the Opening Night Gala.

The Life Of A Corporate Worker
Time Out delves into the subtle resistance found in today’s workforce, using contemporary dance to illustrate the predictable and unpredictable elements of corporate life. It challenges viewers to contemplate their place within structured environments and discover opportunities for creativity and autonomy in their everyday work life.
The show’s score, composed by Manila-based producer Ram Alonzo, also known as Aries, perfectly complements the choreography. Alonzo, recognized for his emotionally rich and energetic music, has created an original score that reflects the choreography’s exploration of tension and release.
Moreover, Time Out explores the importance of visual storytelling. Costumes for the performance are supported by UNIQLO, whose LifeWear line perfectly encapsulates the piece’s theme. The simplicity, quality, and purposeful design of UNIQLO are known to represent self-expression in an age of uniformity—each layer of clothing reveals a key element of the narrative.
“It’s about finding charm in the mundane and reclaiming the rhythms of corporate life not as soulless or robotic, but as something that can be reinterpreted and even celebrated through dance,” FIFTH WALL Founder Madge Reyes said.
