The challenge of Inktober is to put the “I” in artist.
October is chock-full of artistic inspo, from challenges like the 31-day Inktober to various activities scheduled throughout the month.
Organizers have lined up the following local activities for October to help unlock the artist in you.
ManilaART 2022
ManilART is the longest-running visual arts fair in the Philippines, now in its 14th year.
This will take place this year from October 19 to 23 at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura.
The annual flagship project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts will continue with the theme: “Forging Futures.”
Participating galleries include 371 Art Space, AC 388, Annual Sculpture Review, Art For Space, Artes Orientes, AT Art Gallery, Dry Brush, Espacio Manila, Galerie Artes, Galerie Du Soleil, Galerie Francesca, Galerie Raphael, Galleria Nicolas, G9 Online, Gallery Nine, Historia Arts, M Gallery MNL, Museo de Pacis, Pugad ni Art, Renaissance Gallery, The Artologist, Village Art Gallery, and Ysobel Art Gallery.
Tarlac and Central Luzon Art Fairs
Diwa Ng Tarlac has reopened to the public in time for the second Tarlac Art Fair, taking place until October 31. The success of last year’s fair inspired over 100 local artists and photographers to exhibit their art at the said museum.
Meanwhile, the first Central Luzon Art Fair is ongoing until October 23 in Tarlac’s Bulwagan ng Kanlahi.
Wave Cadenza
Edwin Wilwayco has launched their solo exhibition “Wave Cadenza” at Galerie Joaquin Rockwell. This will continue until October 22.
The exhibit features a series of abstract images inspired by and evoking musical structure.
Meanwhile, the compositions of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart serve as its backdrop.
“In Wave Cadenza, Wilwayco achieves the visual physicality of Mozart’s grand and luscious musical theatrics, flourishes, and diversity of sound architecture: the wavelike movements, layering of curves, counter-curves, dissymmetry, and repetition of high and low expressions; and, as is natural for Wilwayco-the strong play of bold, vibrant, and powerful color arrangements to deliver profound emotive viewer satisfaction,” reads the official description.
Beast Master
Salcedo Auctions’ gallery arm, Salcedo Private View, has announced Ronald Ventura’s solo show titled “Beast Master.”

This will run from October 25 to November 9 at the main gallery of Salcedo Auctions in Makati’s NEX Tower.
“Beast Master” marks the artist’s first solo-selling Philippine exhibition to open in 2022.
For the show, Ventura explored “the meaning of, and ideas associated with, his thematic choice, creating beasts of every kind to pull apart long-held perceptions, or blend mediums, motifs, and beliefs altogether to result in a perplexing whole.”
