Before there can be a photograph, there must be light. The medium takes its name from Greek words meaning “drawing with light,” but its art extends beyond the physical process of making an image. Meaning enters through the photographer’s decisions and continues in how the finished work is presented. And while a photograph can be taken in an instant, a photographic project develops over a much longer period. The inaugural Tarzeer Grant for Photography 2027 supports that sustained work, providing artists with the resources to produce a project and subsequently present it to the public.
Selected recipients will receive a total grant of ₱300,000. Of this amount, ₱200,000 will serve as a project fund for producing the work in 2027, while ₱100,000 will support its presentation in an exhibition at Tarzeer Pictures.

“The development and presentation of image-based work are the core of our program at Tarzeer Pictures. Last year, we launched the TARZEER GRANT FOR SHORT FILMS and awarded four projects which are currently in production,” the Tarzeer Pictures team shares with Lifestyle Asia. “The TARZEER GRANT FOR PHOTOGRAPHY is part of this continuous effort to support the ambitions of artists and projects.”
The first edition welcomes individuals working across all modes and forms of photography. This broad scope recognizes that photography can transcend a single method or definition, giving artists room to reconsider how images are made and encountered.
“Opening the first edition to individuals working across all modes and forms of photography excites us, and we hope that this scope creates inroads toward new voices, ideas, and possibilities for photographic work,” the team adds.
Applications are open until October 15, 2026. Deliberations will take place in November, with the selected projects announced in January 2027. More information is available through the Tarzeer Pictures website.
