City of Dreams Manila commits to a greener hospitality industry by kicking off their holiday festivities with the country’s first among integrated resorts
If popular culture is to be followed, the Christmas spirit is always filled with the joy of family togetherness and child-like wonder. We can all feel it: Christmas shopping at every corner, family occasions, and presents making rounds. But if one thing rings true this time of the year, everything feels a lot more grand. That is the feeling City of Dreams evoked during their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony last November 11, 2019 made notable by their sustainability efforts.
Dubbed as “Christmas of Dreams,” the event marked the start of the resort’s holiday festivities with a spectacular lighting ceremony of its towering 32-foot Christmas tree at the luxury resort’s main entrance. Over 10,000 glistening LED lights complete the tree’s resplendence and makes it the resort’s centerpiece this holiday season. Larger-than-life-sized ornaments surround the tree, including a brown teddy bear, letter blocks, and other toys. The decors were conceptualized and designed by Danish designer Creation Group, one of the world’s leading companies in the field of animated figures and mechanical display solutions.
A mesmerizing performance by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid filled the halls with her warm voice. Popular Philippine pop songs “Araw, Gabi” and “Ako’y Iyong Iyo”, plus holiday melodies of “Joyful, Joyful” and “Christmas All Over the World” serenaded the audience. Officiating the night’s ceremonies were Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez and his spouse Janet, Parañaque First District Congressman Eric Olivarez, Belle Corporation Chairman of the Executive Committee Willy Ocier, and City of Dreams Manila Chief Operating Officer Kevin Benning and spouse Angel.
With thousands of lights lit up all season, City of Dreams had to turn to renewable energy for a greener approach to the festivities. “Significantly, Christmas is more meaningful this year at City of Dreams Manila, which marks a milestone in December for being the first integrated resort to launch the 1.2MW solar panels at the resort’s parking building rooftop with Meralco’s Renewable Energy subsidiary, Spectrum,” Benning said.
Now that the holidays have been formally launched at the resort, the whole family can celebrate the yuletide season at City of Dreams through their exciting events and attractions. All weekends of December 2019–including December 24, 25, and January 1– will feature a grand holiday parade featuring everyone’s favorite DreamWorks characters.
Kids and kids-at-heart can also enjoy a Trolls-themed holiday called “Trolls Holla Day” at DreamPlay until January 1, 2020. For the complete experience, grab the Trolls VIP Package which includes an all-day pass at DreamPlay’s attractions with express check-in and attraction entry; passes at Cooking with Gingy’s Holla Day activity and at DreamWorks’ Holla Day Movie; a photo session with Poppy and Branch; and other sweet treats such as special Christmas Trolls Tree cookies and a Trolls candy milkshake. It’s a fun-filled experience you can’t find anywhere else!
“The Christmas of Dreams comes alive at City of Dreams Manila, as we bring an exciting line-up of custom holiday events for everyone to enjoy with their families and loved ones that make us a fitting destination to spend the most wonderful time of the year,” Benning added.
