Highlights From Coachella 2024

A music and arts festival in one–that’s what it means to celebrate Coachella 2024. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival began in 1999 as a two-day event. In its history, in some years the occasion failed to make revenue, which led organizers to take a year off. It came back in 2001 as a one-day event and expanded to three days in 2010. As years passed, it became a six-day celebration spread out across two consecutive weekends.

Coacella 2024 is one of the world’s crown jewels of music festivals due to its eclectic music lineup, odes to artistry, and immersive experiences. Every moment of it is a testament to the power of both art and music’s power to inspire unity across all generations. This year, the festival took place in Indio, California, scheduled from April 12 to 14 and 19 to 21.

Here are some Coachella 2024 highlights from the first half of its shows.

Coachella 2024 fashion

People who attend Coachella have been observed wearing clothes that have no particular themes whatsoever. The event happens in the Coachella Valley, also known as Greater Palm Springs, which happens to be a desert resort city. While attendees are encouraged to come wearing whatever they want, they are also encouraged to consider the conditions of the weather and the venue.

Breathable outfits will combat the sweltering heat. At the same time, Coachella is an event where people would be walking most of the time, so outfits must be comfortable.

Coachella style inspirations include themes like boho, sporty, tie-dye, fringes and ruffles, band tees over skirts or jeans, among many others.

Coachella 2024’s creative installations

Coachella had curators scour the world for celebrated artists, architects, and designers to transform the Empire Polo field, according to their official website

Returning favorites include the “Balloon Chain” by Robert Bose, “Do Lab,” and “Spectra” by NEWSUBSTANCE, to name a few.

The “Spectra” building by NEWSUBSTANCE is an iconic rainbow building that offers an evolving, breathtaking view from dusk to dawn.

The Do Lab installation provides attendees with its usual colorful details along with audio-reactive virtual extensions.

Meanwhile, new installations like “Dancing in the Sky,” “Babylon,” and “Monarch: A House in Six Parts” mesmerized the crowd with their elaborate formations. These came with a burst of hues and extensively-designed structures which enlivened the field and added to the event’s Instagram-worthy spots.

Performances from sought-after artists

The biggest highlight of the first Coachella 2024 weekend were performances from various artists. Lana del Rey headlined the Friday set on April 12 and wore a blue Dolce & Gabbana dress with swarovski crystals with gem-adorned boots. Rock band Bleachers performed for the crowd as well, whose frontman, Jack Antonoff, worked with Taylor Swift on her record-breaking albums.
