Hype Tribute: Louis Vuitton Partners With Dover Street Market Ginza to Release Virgil Abloh Archive Pieces

The sale and showcase runs from from October 29 to November 15.

Celebrating the late Virgil Aboh’s historical tenure at Louis Vuitton continues. From October 29 to November 15, the French house partnered with Tokyo’s Dover Street Market Ginza. The event, which utilizes the store’s first floor, will showcase Abloh’s four-year tenure at the Maison before his death due to cancer in November 2021.

Select archival pieces will be for sale. According to Hypebae, we can expect his debut Spring/Summer 2019 collection and final Fall/Winter 2022 range as LV’s menswear artistic director.

Last September, New York-based luxury publisher Assouline presented its newest title—Louis Vuitton: Virgil Abloh. The book, divided into eight chapters, tells the story of the Illinois native’s journey of breaking boundaries, representing the eight collections he orchestrated for Louis Vuitton menswear. Abloh made history by being the first Black American to hold an artistic director position at Louis Vuitton.

The tribute title will retail for $150. However, the cost of pieces created by the designer has skyrocketed since his death. In February, Sotheby’s sold Nike AF1s by Abloh for over $100,000.
