Toyo Eatery x Atin Introduce A New Way To Plate “Bahay Kubo”

Toyo Eatery and design house Atin unveil limited-edition dinnerware inspired by the beloved Filipino folk song.

With a shared love for celebrating the everyday Filipino story, Toyo Eatery and design house Atin collaborate to debut limited-edition dishes inspired by the revered Filipino folk song “Bahay Kubo.” The collaboration has been a few years in the making, born from shared admiration and the Toyo team’s long-time use of Atin’s plates.

In developing the product line, Toyo Eatery and Atin naturally revisited the origins of the restaurant’s Bahay Kubo dish: a signature that was introduced when it opened in 2016. For the two teams, it felt instinctive for Bahay Kubo to become the heart of the collaboration; the song is embedded in Filipino childhood, and mirrors the garden of ingredients Toyo Eatery honors in its cooking, celebrating what Chef Jordy Navarra calls the “richness found in the everyday.” The Toyo team had long been using Atin’s plates, so turning to them for this project came organically. Chef Jordy shares: “They’ve always just felt natural to what we do… we’d been thinking about making a Bahay Kubo plate for some time, so we took a shot and sent them a message. They said yes right away.” That sense of alignment shaped the design process, grounding the project in the same cultural roots that inspired the dish itself.

The partnership immortalizes the signature dish of the Michelin-starred restaurant, the crockery collection a fitting way to honor its most recent accolade. Atin founder Sabrina Co, the woman at the helm of the Filipino design house, wanted the plates to carry the rhythm and warmth of the folk song itself. “If you look at all of our other collections, they are illustrated very plainly. But with this one, I wanted [the design] to sort of replicate the melody of a song,” she explains.

The collaboration is brought to life in two formats: a grand serving platter finely illustrating the vegetables named in the song, and a four-piece dinner set. Each plate in the four-piece set sings a verse from “Bahay Kubo.” Rather than feeling decorative, the designs read like small, intentional tributes to the ingredients that shaped both the melody and the dish.

To celebrate the launch, Toyo Eatery served a shortened menu that distilled some of the restaurant’s most iconic dishes. Guests were welcomed with Tocino bread from Panaderya Toyo and a warm vegetable sabaw before the highlight of the meal arrived: the Bahay Kubo salad or garden vegetables.  The signature dish was served on the Atin x Toyo collaboration for the first time and introduced with the Toyo team softly singing the folk song–a plate, a dish, and a cherished tune celebrated in unison. An indulgent three-cut pork BBQ paired with silog followed and was topped off with two desserts: leche flan ice cream elevated by the artisanal Asin Tibuok from Bohol and Cassava at Tsokolate for a comforting finish.

The collaboration is emblematic of all the best storytelling elements in design and cooking, and is the perfect gift for foodies in your life or anyone who wants to commemorate the milestone year that Filipino dining has had.
