If Dior’s Fall 2021 had pieces that shone in metallics such as space age silver, the fashion house’s more recent capsule continues with its luminous trend. In Dior Gold, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri takes on some of the most popular styles that the label has produced.

Since joining the maison in 2016, Chiuri has given Dior an unapologetic (as she should) feminist lens. Known to give space to powerful female voices through her designs, her reinterpretations in the capsule, while subtle, are elevated and allowed to shine in more ways than one through its golden touches. Pieces here include throwback dresses and skirts in tulle, silk, or multicolored mesh as well as bags in softer hues.

This capsule—dreamlike and romantic in its execution—is perhaps another example of how Dior pivots with the times. It is part escapism, but with an emboldening point rooted in reality.

Confident comfort

While everyone was still figuring out the new normal last year, Chiuri expressed fashion’s thought process. “We are changing our style of life,” she told AnotherMag.com. “We want something desirable, but more comfortable. It is evident that our life is completely different. So I try to translate the feeling that I have around me, what I see around the women that I know.”

In that interview she said that it’s important to come out with a collection that is empowering, allowing the wearer to “feel confident, well with your body.” And few hues communicate confidence as much as gold.

The brand shows off its atelier’s virtuoso craftsmanship in the capsule’s accessories, particularly with the bags. From the Dior Book Tote (also available as a mini) to the Lady Dior to the Dior Caro, these revisited classics are all finely embroidered with metallic threads.
