The Late Queen Elizabeth II’s Car Is For Sale For Almost $285,000

The late Queen Elizabeth II’s car went for sale for $130,000 in 2019 when she was alive, but its value increased after the monarch’s death.

The late Her Royal Highness (HRH) Queen Elizabeth II’s car has been one of her most noble steeds when it comes to her high profile events and gatherings. The car now hits the market, looking for a worthy new owner.

The queen’s Loire blue Range Rover became part of the royal family’s parade of cars from 2016 to 2017.

Queen Elizabeth II’s car used to have rear entertainment screens before getting the royal makeover. The Land Rover Workshop at Gaydon equipped the car for royal use with covert and police lighting, adapted fixed side steps, and additional grab handles specially designed for the queen.

It was modified again when the royal family stopped using the Range Rover. However, features like the grab handles and a siren warning sticker remained which preserved the car’s connection to its history of duty.

Illustrious appearance of Queen Elizabeth’s car

The former queen’s Range Rover served not only as a steed for the queen’s personal use, but also during key appearances with world leaders.

One of the notable moments when the royals used the car was during the Obamas’ visit in 2016. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II drove the car to meet former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama. The pair stepped off Marine One after landing in Windsor Castle.

Bramley Motor mentioned it was among the few occasions that Obama traveled in a vehicle other than his presidential cars.

“Not everyone can buy the queen’s car”

Bramley Motor car salesman and current car owner Jack Morgan-Jones told Sky News he loved the history behind the car.

Bloomberg reported the car first penetrated the market in 2019 as it used to sell for £130,000 or roughly $165,000. Morgan-Jones said its recent pricing is different as the last time the car was listed, the queen was still alive.

“This will be the first time it will be sold where she is no longer around any more, so there is a premium to pay for it,” he added. Morgan-Jones expressed in addition that “anyone can go and buy a new Ferrari, but not everyone can buy the queen’s car.”

This is not the first time the queen’s car has been put for sale. Iconic Auctioneers put the late royal’s 4×4 1953 Land Rover for auction in February last year. Top Gear reported another royal vehicle for auction last November, a 2004 Range Rover.
