RM Sotheby’s White Collection auction gains $3.9 million for the dazzling, white 2015 Porsche 918 “Weissach” Spyder, which has an MSRP of more than $1 million.
The Porsche 918 “Weissach” Spyder became RM Sotheby’s crown jewel during its White Collection auction as it made $3.9 million.
The auction pushed through from December 1 to 2. It consisted of a unique gathering of rare Porsche models, all painted with brilliant shades of white. The collection boasted 63 motor vehicle lots with 56 Porsche sports cars spearheading the event.
A “Porsche sanctuary”
RM Sotheby’s organized the lot in a space that reflected the theme of the auction, which is all white.
Their website described the space as a direct translation of the cars’ conditions: bright, expansive, and meticulously curated. The venue showcased high ceilings, reflective floors, and other details crafted to “heighten the allure of the cars.”
The auction represented over a decade of dedicated collecting by one perfection-focused owner.

The venue became the perfect Porsche sanctuary as the cars showcase not only rarity, but immaculacy as well.
MSRP more than $1 million
The 2015 Porsche 918 “Weissach” Spyder became one of the most attractive and breathtaking models ever created. RM Sotheby’s website said the car is a “unique prize by any standard, with the sheer immensity of its custom tailoring requirements having stretched the boundaries of Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur department.”

The auction company noted as well that when the car was delivered to Porsche of north Houston, its original MSRP or manufacturer’s suggested retail price was $1,028,200. The retail price represented a nearly 25 percent premium.
2015 Porsche 918 is expertly crafted
The 2015 Porsche 918 highlights its expertly crafted interiors aside from its stunning and pristine white outer aesthetic. Color-matched Weissach wheels enriched the physical aspect and performance of the car.
Customized carbon fiber detailing, silver brake calipers, center-lock wheel nuts, and a clean overall look contributed to the charm of the car.

Its interiors show off richly detailed bespoke elements like Yachting Blue leather as well as Bianco Leda contrast stitches. The steering wheel, headliner, windscreen surround, dashboard, door panels, and lightweight bucket seats bear the fine elements mentioned. The 2015 Porsche 918 packs in a premium Burmester sound system as well.

The car model received routine service appointments through late 2016. RM Sotheby’s added that the car included a new battery installed earlier this year that cost approximately $9,500.
“While in the collection, it has been started and run to operating temperature monthly,” the website said.

Auction an “unparalleled success”
Purchasing the car included pre-sales marketing pieces, delivery protective coverings, manuals, racing harnesses, and a matching model with case.
Accessories like a race suit, Porsche 918 Spyder Circle helmet with case, driving shoes, a Porsche Design 918 Spyder Circle Chronotimer wrist watch (one of 918), accompany the sale, among others. RM Sotheby’s provided all the inclusions on their website.
RM Sotheby’s added the car offered “an unrepeatable opportunity for the serious Porsche collector” to acquire the model.
“The electrifying energy, passionate bidders, and iconic cars made this auction an unparalleled success,” the auction company said.
