Lifestyle Asia and Sun Life Philippines’ “For Those We Love” explored how motherhood, values, and intentional living impact the legacies we leave behind.
In partnership with Sun Life Philippines, Lifestyle Asia celebrated one of life’s most enduring relationships through “For Those We Love,” a heartfelt gathering centered on the unique bond between mothers and daughters. There’s something deeply special about the connection, sometimes expressed through long conversations and affectionate gestures, other times understood in complete silence. It’s a relationship built on the steadfast reassurance that no matter how complicated life gets, there will always be one person who understands you in a way no one else can. For Those We Love highlighted these everyday expressions, bringing together mothers and daughters to honor a connection that evolves, yet remains unwavering.

Celebrating The Legacy That Is Motherhood
For Those We Love was an RSVP LA pocket event co-presented by Sun Life Philippines. With the launch of Sun Life Premier Legacy, it was only fitting to celebrate the women in our lives who see us as their own kind of legacy on this earth. The afternoon gathered mothers and daughters in a shared space that honored the values, care, and foresight passed from one generation to the next.
As One Mega Group’s Vice President for Lifestyle Media Brands, Apples Aberin, expressed, “We are here to honor the evolving role of mothers, not only as the heart of the home but as the architects of our family’s future.” Held at Papillon in Salcedo, Makati, the event brought together elegantly dressed mother-daughter pairs, many of whom arrived in unintentionally coordinated, soft pastel day dresses, adding to the warmth and charm of the gathering.
The partnership between Lifestyle Asia and Sun Life Philippines, as shared in Apples’ opening speech, “was born from a shared belief that a life of excellence deserves a foundation of permanence.” Together, the two brands honored the pillars of the household through high tea; meaningful conversations; and thoughtful discussions centered on legacy, continuity, and the assurance that a mother’s life’s work will continue to be protected and cherished by future generations.
A Fireside Chat With Lifestyle Asia And Sun Life Philippines
With so much maternal energy filling the room, conversations naturally turned toward nurtured values and motherhood. Leading the discussion was Lifestyle Asia’s Head of Editorial Content, Kerry Tinga, joined by her mother, Kaye Tinga, and Sun Life Philippines Financial Advisor Isa Valenton. Together, the panel offered meaningful perspectives on preserving and passing on legacy—whether through the role of motherhood, or through guiding families toward the future with care and foresight.
“For Those We Love: Motherhood, Stewardship, and Modern Legacy, explores how legacy today extends beyond inheritance, becoming a reflection of intentional living, thoughtful stewardship, and preparing for the people we love,” explained Kerry.

The discussion remained both lighthearted and insightful, touching on the emotional realities of family, responsibility, and the future. When Kerry asked the panelists what legacy meant to them, one answer consistently surfaced: legacy is about passing on values. In a room filled with mothers and daughters, there was a quiet moment of collective understanding, with glances and silent nods exchanged in unspoken recognition that some lessons, and the act of loving itself, transcend words.
Kaye, talking about a lesson that has stayed in her family for generations, says, “It’s the importance of family. Family comes first. I think for most moms, that’s how we look at our lives because, as you said, nothing else matters. As long as your family’s there, we’re okay. And, you know, whether through our actions and through preparing for our future, we want to take care of them.”
“But also, in terms of their values, we want to make sure that they’re raised in the right environment, that we’re able to pass on the important things in life that will enable them to be independent, enable them to be successful,” Kaye adds. “I think these are the important things that I’ve picked up from my own parents, which I’d like my children also to learn.”
During the discussion, Kerry also raised the question of why many families delay conversations around legacy or continuity planning, even when they understand its importance. Isa responded candidly, saying, “In my experience, some families believe it’s bad luck to talk about illness or death. And then there are some who believe that they’re at the very earliest stage in life, they’re young, and so this conversation can be tackled at a much later date.”
Isa concluded with a reminder that grounded the entire conversation in love and intention: “When you plan for the future, for continuity, it’s an expression of love that you give to your loved ones because you want, as much as possible, to see them secure in their future.”
