Happy Living Brings Les Jamelles And Les Grappillages To Manila

At a Poblacion gathering, Happy Living introduced Les Jamelles and Laurent Delaunay Les Grappillages, bringing wines from Languedoc, Burgundy, and Beaujolais to the Philippines.

The selection of Happy Living wines has grown with the arrival of two French collections. At Dr. Wine Poblacion on September 10, the distributor introduced Les Jamelles, with varietal wines from Languedoc, and Laurent Delaunay Les Grappillages, a collection inspired by Burgundy and Beaujolais. The launch gathered Julian Gagliardi, general manager of Happy Living Philippines; and Alexia Moulin, Southeast Asia manager of Delaunay Vins & Domaines. For Moulin, the occasion was a chance to introduce a wider range of French wines to a Philippine market she described as curious and eager to explore beyond the classics.

Exploring The New Happy Living Wines, Les Jamelles and Les Grappillages

Behind Les Jamelles and Les Grappillages are Catherine and Laurent Delaunay, whose collections take two different routes through French wine. Catherine created Les Jamelles in 1995, looking to Languedoc and its many grape varieties. Rather than drawing on a single vineyard, she and her team select and blend grapes from different sites to bring out the character of each varietal.

Laurent’s Les Grappillages turns to Burgundy and Beaujolais, with a range built around Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Chardonnay. Its name recalls grappillage, the practice of collecting the last grape bunches after the harvest. For someone beginning to explore French wine, the two collections offer plenty of directions to follow—and a reason to pay attention to both the grape and the place on the label.
