“I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world that have been affected by SPS,” she wrote at the end of her post. “I want you to know you can do it! We can do it!”

Overcoming Challenges

Two years ago, the award-winning artist announced that she would have to reschedule and cancel some of her shows. In the video, Dion shared that the rare neurological disorder affects only about one in a million people.

The condition causes muscle stiffness and uncontrollable spasms which affect her daily life. She’s also unable to use her vocal cords to sing as she usually does.

Earlier this year, Dion announced that she would be opening up about her health issues in the upcoming documentary I Am: Céline Dion.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” she said in a press release.

“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Following the announcement, the singer made a surprise appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards, receiving a standing ovation. One of her sons also accompanied her to assist as she walked onstage. “When I say I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart,” she said.
