Asian Celebrities Make Waves At The Cannes Film Festival 2024

Once again, the red carpet at the French Riviera welcomes famous names from all over the world.

Now in its 77th year, more and more Asian celebrities have been making appearances at the Cannes Film Festival. From their stunning red carpet looks to their notable works, here are some of the stars present at this year’s event.

Michelle Yeoh

The Oscars’ first Malaysian Best Actress, Michelle Yeoh, walked the Cannes’ red carpet for the premiere of Horizon: An American Saga. She was also present at the Kering Women in Motion dinner during the festival.

Her fringed Bottega Veneta gown was designed by Matthieu Blazy. The actress also wore jewelry from Mikimoto and a watch from Richard Mille.

Alexa Chung

Chinese-British television presenter and model Alexa Chung attended the premiere of Emilia Pérez wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier gown. The look, designed by Simone Rocha, featured a bold conical bra.

The next day, she also went to the Horizon: An American Saga premiere, this time in a Celine couture dress and sunglasses.

Lim Yoon-a

Lim Yoon-a of the South Korean group Girls’ Generation attended the Cannes Film Festival as a brand ambassador of Qeelin. She paired her fine jewelry with a pink, floor-length gown.

Aside from attending movie premieres, she also visited the film market in Cannes to promote her upcoming project. The film, Pretty Crazy, had a booth during the festival to build excitement ahead of its release.

Kylie Verzosa

Kylie Verzosa had several stunning looks for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Some of her gowns were designed by Mark Bumgarner. Meanwhile, her final red carpet dress was by Sophie Couture. She also wore jewelry from Messika and Marli.

The Filipino beauty queen turned actress attended the festival’s opening ceremony as well as the premieres of Furiosa and Kinds of Kindness.

Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong

Thai actresses Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong also attended the premiere of Emilia Pérez, which is competing for the Palme d’Or and Queer Palm at this year’s Cannes Festival.

Both women wore Eman Al Ajlan gowns and Chopard jewelry for the red carpet. Known for their girls’ love (GL) series, the actresses are set to return to the big screen with their upcoming film Uranus 2324.

Kiara Advani

Kiara Advani made her Cannes debut representing India at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema panel discussion and gala dinner.

The Bollywood star wore a pink and black gown from Prabal Gurung. She posted photos of her look on social media with the caption “A night to remember.”
