This May, New Balance is kicking off its annual “Grey Days” celebration with an exciting assortment of classic footwear and apparel styles in a full range of grey shades.
Grey can be a timeless and sophisticated color when used right—which is exactly what New Balance did in the 1980s. With the goal of building a superior urban running shoe, the brand released a line of grey colors that embodied its dedication to craft, quality, and fearless independence in every field. Today, it celebrates its signature color and legacy through the yearly “Grey Days” event: a homage to everything New Balance represents, bringing together the brand’s family of ambassadors and athletes for a range of special-edition products, events, and stories.

In an era where bright-colored shoes of white and rainbow hues abounded, New Balance stood out from the competition with a running shoe design that proved to be a perfect complement to the concrete and asphalt backdrop of road running. Before long, people noticed that grey looked good at any speed. While the models have evolved over the years, grey remains emblematic of New Balance’s aesthetic and an iconic symbol of the brand worldwide.

Infinite Ways To Wear Grey
Grey Days 2025 is an expression of grey as limitless possibility. The classic New Balance shade is applied in various forms across 21 footwear and 11 apparel styles, ranging from all-time classics to modern favorites.

“Whether you’re new to the brand or a longtime loyalist, grey embodies the promise of everything that sets New Balance apart. The symbolism of grey has remained central to the brand for decades, and Grey Days 2025 showcases its diverse appeal,” shares Brian Lynn, New Balance Global Vice President of Lifestyle. “By bringing together an array of our athletes and ambassadors to highlight these exclusive styles, we are honoring the versatility and authenticity that is core to both our heritage and our future.”

For 2025, the reissue of the 1300JP—a legendary style released just once every five years—brings extra excitement to Grey Days. The 1300JP stands out as one of New Balance’s most sought-after styles, not only for its rarity, but also for its impeccable craftsmanship and unique place in global sneaker culture.
Highlights To Watch Out For
Sneaker collectors, athletes, and fans of New Balance have much to look forward to this May, as the brand is holding an array of activities to commemorate Grey Days.
On May 1, The Grey Shop launched in New Balance stores and on NewBalance.com. It offers new and existing grey styles from the brand’s lifestyle, performance, Numeric, and kids ranges, including the 740, 9060, 1000, T500, Fresh Foam X 1080v14, and more, in addition to a selection of timeless grey apparel.

Then on May 14, the brand will be launching the 1906 loafer: a re-envisioned classic penny loafer that blends the fresh aesthetics of a sneaker with the elegance of formal wear. The interesting juxtaposition has made it a high-demand item among customers.
Finally, May 22 will see the launch of the ABZORB 2010 and 471. Both take inspiration from the brand’s running heritage, with the ABZORB 2010 being a progressive take on 2000s-era running, and 471 being the consumer’s new go-to reimagining of ‘70s running silhouettes.
