OMEGA gives its Speedmaster 38 mm case a fresh update with Moonwatch-inspired details, new colorways, gold accents, and diamonds.
The watch on your wrist signals personality the way a handbag does, and OMEGA is betting that a smaller watch case can carry just as much weight as a big one. The brand has extended its Speedmaster 38 mm collection with seven new references, each one nudging the line closer to the DNA of the original Moonwatch.
“The Speedmaster 38 mm has always taken its cues from the Moonwatch, while keeping size, color, and simplicity in mind. With this latest update, we’ve taken the Moonwatch inspiration even further, helping to enrich the Speedmaster DNA while still retaining the refined and unique nature that the 38 mm range is known for,” explains Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, in a statement.

The Speedmaster 38 mm Collection: Smaller, Sharper, And Sportier
For a watch this size, the details matter. OMEGA rounded off the subdials, which used to be oval, giving the dial a sportier edge. The text on the face has been pared down, and the bezel has thickened up to make room for the Dot-Over-Ninety marking that longtime Speedmaster fans will recognize instantly. Each version now sits on a five-link bracelet borrowed from the Moonwatch’s own design, with center links that alternate between polished and brushed finishes depending on the model.
New Takes: A Deeper Look Into The OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm
Underneath, the Co-Axial Calibre 3330 runs six of the seven watches, each with a date window. The exception is a black-dialed reference which runs on the Calibre 3332. That black dial comes closest to channeling the Moonwatch directly, with a matte black face, a black aluminium bezel, and Super-LumiNova-filled hands with indexes in white. A white-dialed option takes a cooler approach, setting a blue ceramic bezel and white enamel tachymeter scale against a lacquered white dial, with hands finished in a matching blue coating. A third pairs a warm grey aluminium bezel with an opaline silvery dial, where Sedna Gold hands and indexes catch the light against a mix of brown and gold tones in the subdials.
Two bicolour references lean further into jewelry territory. One sets a stainless steel case against a polished 18-karat Moonshine Gold bezel, a green aluminium ring and a yellow gold tachymeter scale, all wrapped around a silvery opaline dial. The other continues OMEGA’s “cappuccino” motif within the 38 mm line, an ivory dial set off by brown subdials, an 18-karat Sedna Gold bezel and a brown aluminum ring.
Then there are the two diamond-set versions, built for anyone who wants their timepiece to blend in with their jewelry. Each bezel holds 52 diamonds, totaling 1.53 carats, set against either an ice blue dial or a mother-of-pearl one, both finished with rhodium-plated hands. The result is a collection built for the person who wants heritage on a smaller scale; it’s proof that a watch doesn’t need a big case to make a statement.
